Dave L.'s post reminded me about this subject. Tried my first mini recently and it was a lot of fun. Who's got some pic's to share? I remember Chris C. showing some, who's next?:D

5160 steel integral, triple-tempered, blued handle

Here's one. This is my first miniature, 4" overall, 2.25" blade, copper habaki. The wood for the stand, handle, saya is Wenge, blade is an old hack saw. Copper pin, some kind of odd electrical metal tsuba, nice color but no idea what it is.

Sorry for the pic on the stand, it's really the same thickness the entire length, that's just a function of getting too close with my camera. I'd have tried again, but I gotta go to work...

By the way, Richard I think I've seen that one with George, sweet knife with a very satisfactory sheath. It's got some weight in the hand.

Steel isn't all the Richard carves, you should check out his website. He's really very good.

Here's a rough, old one I did many years ago, Its a hand forged piece of Tim Zowada damascus, ebony handles. OAL 1 inch

this one was forged from a piece of 1084... zebra wood scales, and fully fileworked... my fingers will never be the same;)

Here's as close as I could make it, a half-scale version of No. 22 - Rope Knife .

Stats:

O1

OAL 5 5/8"", blade 3 1/8"

Rope filework, tapered tang, red liners

Steel pins, Macassar ebony scales

Marlinspike out of O1

Includes clunky, yet half size, sheath

The pins are made from paper clips, but somehow I miscounted; No 22 had 39 pins, this one got 40... This really was was fun, even has "miniature" file work!

I got button happy and didn't add a description. This little knife has a random pattern blade, stabilized burl handles, and gold pins. Cuts like the big ones just smaller.

Great looking knives everyone! Now I want to make another mini.

Here is the pic of the one I did a while back. -chris

Let me try that link again....

By the way, the blade is 01, guard and pins are nickel silver, and the scales are mammoth ivory.

Is it just me, or are some of these pic's not coming thru? Thanks to everyone taking part! Chris- I remember seeing yours, great work. Wish I could see the rest! Was fooling around forging some bronze yesterday. My 8-yr. old son and I had lots of fun making this little battle axe, plus a version of Thor's hammer, Mjollnir, for him.

Richard, that's great. Without the ruler you'd never know its size it's so well proportioned. Makes me want one, thanks for sharing.

Dave, Richard, Andrew,

Your miniatures are great!

I think I've found an empty spot in my collection. I've never looked at miniatures like these. They're all fantastic.

Anybody have more?

I'm in the market for some, perhaps even a custom. I'd love to see your designs, past knives, etc.

Does anybody do miniatures based on a drawing?

Dan
