I wanted to share some photos of my modded Cold Steel hawks.

The first is a War Hammer. The first thing I did was sharpen the point...

Then I drilled a lanyard hole, attached the langettes, and wrapped the handle in black 550 cord...

Right now I'm in the process of filing out the head to a diamond shape so that only the corners are protruding (like on the Cold Steel Pole Axe)...

The first few "slices" of the file got a good starting point...

I also stuck my Rifleman's Hawk head on a War Hammer shaft. The handle was wrapped in 550 cord with a small section closer to the head for a little protection against a bad strike...

Prior to this, the Rifleman's Hawk was wearing a handle that I burnt and wrapped. This handle will now be for my soon-to-arrive Trail Hawk head...

i love the short spear... looks like a good pig sticker.... i think i'm taking one of my new swords hog hunting w me 4 the coup de grae.. or my trailhawk

The same War Hammer and Rifleman's Hawk / War Hammer above, but with some additions. A Trail Hawk and United Cutlery Vietnam Tomahawk arrived today. The Trail Hawk is wearing the handle that's shown on the Rifleman's Hawk in the last photo above. The Vietnam Tomahawk didn't come with the cord wrapping...

The Vietnam Tomahawk was pretty dull and didn't have the edge on the underside, so a sharpening and re-grind was necessary...

Its spike was almost perfect as it came out of the box...

With the word-wrapped handle, the Vietnam Tomahawk's sheath wouldn't fit. Some light cutting fixed that...

In hand...

The modded Trail Hawk in hand...

A cheap axe sheath works well for the Trail Hawk...

Lookin good....Your getting a nice collection going there !

Great modifications! I have all the item shown above but ,other than drilling a hole through the Vietnam hawk handle and putting on a lanyard, mine all still all stock. I'm not that handy, but I'm at least going to try some of those cord wraps.
Good idea putting a longer handle on the Rifleman hawk ,it's a little heavy for the short handle.

One guestion about the Rifleman's hawk; were you able to buy just the handle or did you have to buy another war hammer in order to get the proper long handle?
thanks

I bought a War Hammer handle (just the handle, no langettes) from my local knife shop (around $7).

Looks great! I always felt it was a shame that CS didn't crenelate the face of the war hammer like that.

How do you like the Assegai spear? I'm thinking of picking up the head by itself as a combo spear/trowel.
