Modify Spyderco Police III for lanyard?

I have a Spyderco Police III with G-10 scales that I carry at work. The pocket clip broke the second day. I'd really like to put a lanyard on it and back-pocket carry it but it's not like my Endura 3 that had the large bolt through pocket clip that when removed, left a nice large hole in the handle to put on a lanyard.

Is there anyway to mill/drill a hole in the end of the knife to put in a lanyard hole? I was thinking that since I won't be using the pocket clip that maybe the last frame screw could be moved to the hole for placing the clip that the blade doesn't touch which would leave a little more room at the end of the knife for a hole?

Is this a reasonable mod and is this something that might interest you?

The only way to know would be for me to have the knife long enough to check it out and by check it out I mean take it apart and have a look inside. The spring holder/spacer for the rear of the knife is the issue here. The last thing you want to do is weaken that or worse case scenario ruin it by drilling threw there to put a lanyard. It all depends on what kind of room that part of the folder has in it and unfortunately we'll never know until I can find out first hand. If you want to mail it to me please fill out my work order form found in the "Read this if you need to mail me work" sticky post somewhere top the page on page on here in my forum. Once filled out using your key pad and then printed you can mail at your convenience and we'll find out the answers to your questions together. Thanks for asking

No pics but I finally got off my duff and sent Steve my Spyderco Police III when I took my vacation leave. He looked at the knife and advised not doing the things I had dreamed up. He made a low-rider clip for it instead.

Amazing customer service and speed of service. I didn't get to pick it up until I got back from camp but I've been backpocketing and front-pocketing the knife since then and I'm really pleased. The clip works so well that front-pocketing it is no problem at all. Also have not had any problems with the clip deforming or catching on things either.

Excellent item, craftsmanship, and service.

Thanks, Steve!
