Any one have the Monarch "clip point Tanto" yet. not being a tanto fan, that one looks good even to me.

Sorry Navajo. They aren't even made yet. That one is a prototype that Rich put out to gather orders. The final version may differ from the way it looks now. The latch will be fixed for sure.

I don't know about the tanto, though I've seen pics of it up on his site. I did just order a standard monarch yesterday. Rich and I spoke for about 20 min just chewing the fat about the Monarch project and how well it's doing. What a nice guy and very personable too. I'm really excited to get this knife as it looks like a real work horse. I know a lot of poeple have probably stated this already, but I'll reiterate just for effect. I am thrilled that someone has decided to put together heavy-weight balisong of quality materials (and I'm sure workmanship) to pick up where the old BMs left off. Hopefully the Monarch fills the gap for the people who still want the old steel handles at a great price. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sell this bali off to anyone...just a little excited to get mine!

Don't have one yet. I might even pay retail for this one. If it lives up to the way it looks, I will be glad to shill for them. Hope they give BM a run for the money. Not knocking BM. Just don't understand there attitude about steel handled knives. The "production" customs were great knives. I get calls for them all the time. Guess I'll have to recomend Monarch.

....I can't remember seeing any really good pics of any of the models... Except for those by Gollnick, of course.

Why is that? Few, and low quality pics... Not good.

Well, it's been almost two month, and according to Rich, the problems have been resolved, so I doubt he would mind too much. Here's the photo essay I did of the Monarch when Rich asked me to document how to fix the initial production Monarchs. Warning, will not paint the Monarch in a good light, but you need to remember that these are the "Before" models. The "After" ones are being shipped now. As soon as I get one, I'll take pic's and compare.

No wonder there aren't many pics... ;)
That really doesn't look like any quality knife! I sure hope they've learned their lesson; the "after"s should be A LOT better.

"One must fail to get perfection."
