This is a side rabbit trial diverging from the post "what role for the Junglas" someone posted that has gotten quite a few replies. Amazing how many "bashers" so to speak there are, I bet mostly from folks who don't own one yet. I have been studying world political/economical/sociological events etc.etc. for over 30 years mostly from NON mainstream media, they rarely tell the truth and hide MOST of what is REALLY going on in the world today. What has been set in motion CANNOT be stopped regardless of what you hear. It IS going to hit the fan soon, certainly within a year or two, very possibly in the next few months. What the heck does this have to do with the Junglas?? Everything. When there is no more gas, food on the shelves, etc. etc. what do think your going to do? Most will respond, your just another quack doom and gloomer blah blah blah... Be ignorant if you want but like I said, over 30 years of studying/watching is different than just reading the local doom rags. No, your not going to be bugging out with an axe and all that other heavy stuff. If your not prepared with lighter gear that can handle heavy duty work your simply going to be up a creek. The Junglas will do everything from making fire (getting to that dry wood in soaking wet conditions and just plain fire prep/ shelter building with allot less effort than banging away with a small blade) to being a pretty awesome defense tool when all the bullets are gone, and they will be at some point. At that time the blade will once again rule like in the days of old. Sounds far fetched I know but sorry, the truth hurts sometimes. Get a Junglas, a 4 or smaller blade and a VERY good portable water filtration unit and you'll be half way there! Now I just sit back and wait for all the uninformed responders to chime in , but hey, that's half the fun of all this right? Everyone is entitled to there opinion, even if your wrong! HeHe

I've been stocking up on large knives, including the Junglas, so I can sell them or trade them for food later.
Sometimes I think I'm paranoid, but probably not.

No argument from me. I don't own a Junglas but have a very similar blade. It will conceal entirely in my day bag which a full size axe will not do. It's lighter than my 2lb hatchet yet chops just as well over extended periods. Splits wood well and won't fly off the handle. :)
Better weapon than a folding saw also. :p

I'm pretty much on par with your thinking. But yeah, you are going to get alot of people saying 'I don't think so" I have spent alot of time myself trying to convince some people that things are going to get very bad, some listen.....most don't."Never happen" is what I hear most. We are just a very spoiled society when it comes to having things pretty good, so it's hard to imagine, and to scary, for most people to come to terms with.

The thing I've learned the most is. You will never convince the SHEEPLE, no matter how many good points you bring up, or proof you give them....Too Bad Really!

Drover I agree with you brother on a lot of things. Part of why i'm getting some gear ready now. When it hits the fan 1st thing I'm doing is getting out of this highly populated area I live in. I just recently purchased a few H.i. Khukuris & am starting on getting a few beautiful Esees. The blade will rule again. Bullets eventually will run out, when they do, they wont be able to make new ones. I'm looking at getting a nice Excalibur crossbow as well. Better to be prepared than to be lost. I just recently watched the documentary Collapse. What that talks about seems very real to me

"Collapse" is pretty good.

We live in an oil economy.
The world population has grown because of oil, the industrial revolution, and the false idea that we will always have oil for "energy".
We are running out of oil. Yet, we keep using it like junkies.

Very well said foxx, you summarized it concisely. Collapse is a good documentary, by Michael Ruppert. I liked how it went back to the 70's & started explaining on the subject. That is good for people who are new to the subject.

The US has enough oil in our own ground to last America for over 200 years. We are just not drilling for it. There will come a time when people tell the environmental people to go to hell and start drilling. The problem we have is lack of refinery capacity due to government regulations. It would take years to build new refineries to get on line for use. Same goes for new nuclear power plants. It would take years to build as well.

If a civil breakdown will/does/can occur, it will have nothing to do with race/age/religion/politics or income . . . . . it will boil down to between the "have's" & the "have's not" . . . . plain and simple.
(and a good supply of ESEE knives wouldn't hurt).
Be safe.

Please don't turn THIS subforum into another retarded cousin of Political.:barf::thumbdn:

I used to be just like that. always reading the news and commentaries avoiding mainstream media as much as possible preparing for the Collapse of western civilization. I did that for a little more than 3 years. I was stocking up on food and supplies, getting as much survival training as I could, preparing for the worst.

Just over a year ago I caught myself so immersed in that world that I saw myself as one of those paranoid "end of the world" nuts. I stopped reading all the commentaries and internet based news sites and just got back to my Faith and my Family.

It's been well over a year now that I've gotten away from all that "Hype" and life has gotten so much simpler. That's not to say I don't think it couldn't happen, or that I'm not prepared if it does. But if you immerse yourself in that world, it will get to you and it will have you always looking over your shoulder wondering when it's all going to happen.
This year? Next year? Have we got enough supplies to last? This form of media is designed.... to make you that way....Because Fear sells.

I tell you, it was by God's grace that he took me out of that because he saw what I was becoming...and it wasn't what He wanted me to be.

Very well said gregncat, reminds me of that saying "too much of anything isn't good for you" at the end of the day at least if it does happen sooner than later you're prepared. Faith & family are important. Part of the reason you had the mindset to prepare was for the goodness & well being of your family.

Right on. I whole heartily agree. One definitely has to keep all this stuff in perspective and not go too far down that road but... I have found a balance of faith and knowing whats going on in the world. Nothing wrong with being ready but at the same time you can't stop living life like you'll be here for a lifetime. I know some people just have a hard time keeping it all balanced and need to step back from the whole subject so as not to get consumed by it, no arguments here. For me, I just do well with both, everyone is different and needs to do what is right for them.

If shit hits the fan, I don't care how many guns, knives and smoke grenades you have. We'll be all doomed.
Have some faith!
Besides, I don't need extra reasons to buy knives....
