Buck means so much more to me than than just a knife company. It means a time spent in the squirrel hollows leaning against a big ol' oak, waiting for that right moment when all comes together and the hammer falls, another is added to the game pouch and soon enough that Buck knife in your pocket has a good chore ahead of itself. Buck means a chilly afternoon spent in the company of your grandfather, waiting for that deer herd to leave the woods and graze the field in front of you. Buck means admiring the old worn leather 110 sheaths, and the new ones, attached to each member of your bear hunting group. It means the memories of friends, and family passed that trusted Buck knives. The knives tell the tail in each scratch, each worn handle and in each bump and bruise, they never forget... they can't.
Buck means friendship, and fellowship, it's there for good and bad, it won't leave you if you don't leave it, and it's the most reliable journal around. I've learned from family why Buck is the best, but if you've spent anytime with a Buck in your pocket, you already knew that.
I recently learned again why Buck has so much to do with friendship, Matt (mbjannusch) sent me an e-mail the other day saying that he wanted to share the Buck 303 love and send me one. I'm overly excited at the news of getting one, it's a Buck pattern I've wanted for a while now, but have never had a real good opportunity to get one. Now, thanks to the friendship and fellowship shared by Matt, I'll be getting a knife Dad trusted, a Buck 303.
So thank you for that Matt, and thank you for the memories I'll make with this new companion.
Buck is more than a four letter word.
