More Work For Ghorka's

As usual, I couldn't find the story. But, I do know that retired Gorkhas often hire out as security personnel. Many are working in Hong Kong as bodyguards for the rich and famous and at much better pay than they earned in the British Army.

The airline companies could hire retired Gorkhas to guard the cockpit doors of airliners. I've recently read in the news that there is resitance to arming pilots with firearms for fear of perforating the pressurized cabin(or passengers) on commercial flights. Would anyone care to calculate the odds of even a dozen boxcutter-armed terrorists getting past a Gorkha with a khukuri? :D

Retired Gurkhas are commonly employed for cruise ships security, especially by ships operating in the Pacific.

Pat, In China they have solider's on domestic flight's armed with hachet's as anti hijack defense. Maybe we should start Khuki Kutter flight's

against one Gorkha with a Khukuri - Well, the first two or three would have the best chance (if any), because after that, the floor would be too slippery for the rest to gain any traction....slip-chop, slip-chop...very messy ;)

Guys,
While doing "RESEARCH",FOUND A CO. THAT USES our Gurkas! They offer 3 types of employees:1)HOUSEHOLD HELP 2)GUARD DUTY 3)DO YOU WANT A SMALL STRIKE FORCE TO DO QUICK JOBS!!Burke, lost the program, can you help??If not ,I can try again!
jim

Some private individuals with good sized boats also use Gorkhas as security as this little story will demonstrate. I remember this rich guy calling me awhile back from Florida. He had a yacht -- 120 footer as I recall -- and had 4 retired Gorkhas as security men. They carried their khukuris and he wanted to get a "knife like these Gorkhas carry." He asked the Gorkhas where he could get such a knife and one of them directed him to HI. He bought a couple but I can't remember which models.

Bill,

I tracked down that post. Here's a cut and paste. Not much there.

"Despite previous opposition to the establishment and use of private armies, the United Kingdom and United Nations are beginning to warm to the idea of using paid mercenaries to carry out security roles around the world."

"Like many former British colonies, Nepal is home to elite mercenaries: the Gurkhas. These soldiers perform important security functions out of the public eye."

"During the 1990s, the United Nations, British government and Clinton administration officially frowned on mercenaries, soldiers serving for pay in foreign armies or at the behest of private firms."

That's all I saw.

Do well.

The UN, Brit Gov't., and the Clintoon Admuckistration always had the supreme talent for "frowning" at the right things, and grinning stupidly when caught in the wrong (unless you have a different definition of what "is" is :D)

This is off-topic even for me, but "I got's to know" ( line stolen from the bank robbery scene in Dirty Harry ).

When you think of the Clinton administration, Walosi, does the phrase "gag a maggot" jump into your mind the way it does mine?

Yep, him, and any part of his totally incompetent administration (including a secretary of defense who withheld our own armor from the troops in Somalia, so as not to look "too warlike"). The Les Nessman (WKRP in Cincinnati) of political appointees. The rest were no better.
Those eight years prove that God has a sense of humor (the country still exists even though we elected them twice) and also proves that He expects us to learn from our mistakes. We are, at whatever cost, well on our way to atonement and hopefully higher achievement now that we've had our example.

Hey fellas

Bubba Bill wasn't all bad. He taught our children a "valuable" lesson.

Just see my tag line below. ;)

Nope - no one is ALL bad....trouble is, the parts that weren't bad were either stupid, or just didn't @#*&ing care.

T'was good, clear sarcasm :) My problem is that every time I get started on the Clintoons, I go into uncontrolled rants and whatsits....and stuff. Meds don't seem to help.

Me too.

My blood pressure goes off the chart when I think of the Billary crowd. I saw that tag line on a T shirt once devoted to the ZipperGate mess. So I kept it around to remind me of why I distrust politicians.

BTW, where in the hail is Auburn??

This almost sounds like Uncle Bill is Trolling his own
forum.:p   :D

We can only hope there won't be a few individuals who will see this t thread as they would start falling from the ceiling where they wound up on their last escapade of "loseing it.":D :p

Uncle, the only time I would vote for the Commie Queen is when she is running for the border. May the Doberman Gang get her before she reaches the Chinese mainland.

Bro, I lost it long ago :) Nowdays I spend most of my time hovering around the ceiling (just come down for meals).

Fi, Auburn is between Russellville and Bowling Green on 68-80. bobrap has threatened to come up from Tennossee on the 16th. If you and PatMc (Raven's Beak) could fall by, we might have a quorum for a Kaintuck Khonvention. Maybe tempt Longrifle down from Cinci...hmmmm.
