Can anyone provide feedback comparing these two knives? I have not handled either, I have seen reviews on them, but between the two, which has better construction, VG-10 vs S30V etc... Not trying to troll, just can't decide. Price point has the manual CF LCC about $30.00 more. Thanks.

I have an LCC. Really well built, but there is no guard or handle contour to keep your hand from moving forward onto the blade. A really great looking knife, but one that I don't do any cutting with.

Both are excellent knives, they have top notch quality and I have seen no problems with either of mine. They both perform well and carry easily. If I were forced to choose which one I liked better I would probably say the LCC, and that is mainly due to looks. I just think that the look of the CF with Ti Bolsters is really nice.

Either way both are solidly built knives that will serve you well.

Both are nice knives. I like the Microtech better. The design, fit, finish, and materials are better than many custom knives. I think the Microtech is well worth the extra $30.

I also have both and have to agree with ErikD. I think that the fit and finish quanity on both are very close. I would give the LCC the nod as the better of the two because I think the blade to handle ratio is better on the LCC. I also like the blade shape on the LCC because it is wider and should slice better than the SERE. This is only my opinion since I have had the SERE only about a week and the LCC a few months.

You wouldn't be shortchanged with either of these two knives. It really comes down to personal preference and what you are looking to use a folder for.

I use my knives only for light cutting chores around the house and kitchen and occassionally opening the odd package so steel isn't as critical as to someone who is a hard use type individual.

The LCC and SERE were on my had to have list and I am very pleased with both. I obtained two Emerson's, the P-Sark and Raven and I have gotten rid of both because they just didn't live up to quality of the Microtech and Al Mar knives.

YMMV

The MT LCC is a wonderful knife, the quality is nearly unmatched by anything else out there, but you do have to understand what the LCC is.

Really well built, but there is no guard or handle contour to keep your hand from moving forward onto the blade

This is a key point, but it is also one of the strengths of the LCC, when i am just looking at doing some general cutting chores i like a simple handle style that the LCC does very well, but it is not a fighting knife (the micarta versions are more grppy).

I handled an Al Mar SERE 2k only once, and i felt that it was a fine knife, it is smaller than the LCC, with its blade being less broad than the LCC. It has a much more tactical handle and some nice features not found on other knives such as steel liners, and a steel back spacer (trust me this is an advantage). But the SERE is just not as "nice" as an LCC.

Thank you all for your input. Needed to get a better feel for Microtech quality overall before I take the plunge. The info was quite helpful.

I have both and feel the LCC is more of a gentleman's knife. I carry it for dressier occasions. Use it for cutting chores that you typically wouldn't really need a guard or choil in place for finger protection. The LCC is not a folder I'd want to have to use for heavier cutting tasks or to defend myself if the need ever arose because of it's lack of a choil or guard.
OTOH, the SERE is more of an everyday do-all EDC. The finger protection it provides gives me a bit more peace of mind and I would'nt hesitate to use it as a hard use type of folder.

They're both great knives and each has it's uses.

All the best,
Mike U.

I have both the LCC D/A and the SERE 2K D/A. I prefer the LCC way more than the Al Mar, only because of the dual action part though. On the Al Mar auto, the scale is too easily released.

To compare the two as manual only, I would probably choose the 2K as it fits my large hand even better than the MT, and I love the deep pocket clip design.

I have both. Prefer the Al Mar hands down. I find it has a better feel and grip than the LCC. The Al Mar has a smoother action. The LCC is a great knife but I just don't like it quite as much as the Al Mar

I have the Al Mar but not the Microtech, so I can't really compare. From what I have seen of the LCC though, I think that they are two different animals. The LCC has a thinner edge and a more efficient cutting blade. My Al-Mar has a thicker edge than I care to use for an EDC. For that same reason I think it would make a better heavy duty folder. The SERE 200 is also a very heavy folder, which is a plus or a minus depending upon the application. Basically, for EDC, light duty, I would get an LCC. For heavy duty, survival kit use, I would take my SERE 2000.

Both are great knives. . .but I prefer the MT LCC. :D

MT took it to a level that Al Mar, unfortunately, isn't able to meet.

I don't have a MT LCC to compare the two knives by, but I SURE do LOVE my Al Mar SERE 2000! That one is smooth and rock-solid.
