Multi-tool Deals?

Okay, I'm not sure this is the correct forum, if it's not, please have it moved. Thanks.

I am the Executive Director of a Christian Summer Mission Camp. I have approximately 10 summer staff folks who lead groups in the building of wheelchair ramps, patching rooves, and other home maintenance for folks who are too infirmed or too impoverished to accomplish these tasks themselves.

I let one of them borrow my old PST this past summer and he told me that he was going to have to buy one soon because it was such a constant help.

Okay, now to the point, I (the camp) would like to buy a multi-tool for each of these folks for the coming summer. We don't have a ton of money, so we need to get the best deal possible. Do y'all know of any place that will give a discount on this type of thing for either purchasing more than one tool or would be willing to help out a non-prof with a discount or something more?

In addition, would you guys suggest purchasing tools for each person to keep and then buy new ones each year, or just buy enough to go around and have them turned back in at the end of the summer?

Thanks!

Target had them on sale really cheap, 50% off I believe.
You could try 1sks.com and see if they would offer a discount or a group buy discount.

Try both target (For leatherman) and WalMart (some LM and SOG tools).
Sometimes they have good deals...

The new LM's are reportedly at target, and they have different price levels. Target may be getting rid of the older models (Pulse, old wave) for cheap.

Calling 1sks or newgraham to inquire wouldn't hurt.

Don't even _think_ of buying them in a 'knife-store' or sporting goods store, the prices are usually 50-70% higher (at least in my local knife stores..)

Also, use Froogle to search by price...

The tools will likely be in good shape after a summer, so theoretically you could use them again.
If you plan on using them for a few years, I recommend the SOG powerlock, if you can strike a deal on them, since you can take them apart to clean/fix/replace parts. (Other multis are riveted or have secure screws, but SOG even sells replacement parts.)

On the other hand, anyone using one for the whole summer will have a terrible time letting go! :D

(Maybe you could provide some part of the cost each year, so they would be affordable enough for the workers (to keep), but not bite into your budget as much.)

Just some ideas, I hope you find what you need.

How many do you need and how many tools, or what key tools/blades do you need. I run a nonprofit selling used SAKs and some multi-tools and I'll see what I have in inventory when I know basically what you're looking for. Thanks.

PM me if you are still looking for tools. I may be able to help. I'm also in NC. :D

Fruitbat,
I don't have access to PM you.
Please email me at steve@*no spam*cbonline.org
Thanks, pal!

ps.
I'm a big fan of historic hillsborough.

You know the soccer company just around the corner from downtown? That's where I'm at.
