Has anyone used a grinder known as a Multi-tool? I saw one demo'd at a car show.
It is made in Australia and bolts to a benchtop grinder after removing one wheel.
Looked pretty neat and effective.

It would be good for doing radius and smaller
places on the blade but the down side to it is the 2x36 belts at the speed the grinder
which most are 3450 the belts would not last long.

I have this grinder and it has been a great first machine. Belts are very quick and easy to change although there is a limited selection of grits available. I have mine bolted onto a 1 horse Craftsman bench grinder and it works great. I had to use my dremel to modify the mounting notches a bit to achieve a good fit when bolting it onto the motor.

I made mine fit in a custom position, facing so the contact wheel is on the bottom and the platen is accessible in front of you. I had to set the machine on a wooden pedestal so that the arm won't hit the bench. In the pictures they show the arm sticking straight up in the air with the contact wheel on the end of it but that would be completely useless if you were trying to grind a blade!

I consider this to be an excellent choice for the money and for a first machine especially if you are willing to tinker a little bit. It's true that belts go pretty quick, but you can't have everything and I was able to make quite a few knives and practice pieces with just 6 belts of each grit.

I say some place were you can get it up to 400 grit, waer one sown and spray it with
TFl50 and you have about a 800 grit belt
when you do that RW Wilson told me to try it
on my 2x72 and it does work.I wonder if there
was a way to put a bigger contact wheel on it
and use longer belts?
