Alright, I have a dilema and I need some input! I am looking for a great multipurpose, hard as nails fixed blade for my "survival/rescue" bag that stays in my truck. This is attached to the "save the world" fannypack that goes everywhere the truck does.

Let me tell you what I have tried attache to it, and them let me tell you my toughts on possible replacement. SOG Seal Pup, BK&T Campanion, Fallkniven G1 (Garm Fighter.) The SOG was a reta knife in a custom kydex sheath by Eric (Normark) and I am unsure of why I traded it. The Campanion was just too dang big and the Garm Fighter is 2 edged.

The knife's primary focus will be two-fold...extraction of others from vehicle (if neeed) ie seatbelt, window crashing, etc (no roof cutting) and possible "general camp/outdoor" survival knife if the need arises.

I have looked at EVERYTHING from Camillus CQB2 to the Becker Utility/Fighter, Fallkniven A1 or F1, the Ka-Bar New Generation, SOG Recondo X-42, the Arc Lite.

What else should I consider and what should I get. I have a Garm Fighter and a little cash to contribute to the trade/purchase. Let's say $100 total to apply to the knife.

Please advise.

Try the Pilot Survival Knife from Camillus. It is the original survival knife and an inch shorter than the Campanion. The CS Mini-Bushman is shorter still but only by 3/8". Any smaller than these and I would have to say look at a good folder.

Sproules,
For the rescue application check out MOD CQD Mk1 with window
breaker and cutter.Excellent knife.

FWIW I'd second Clint's suggestion of the Camillus Pilot
survival knife. I carried one 30 yr's ago in S.E. Asia and beat
the hell out of it. I know of no knife that is that small , that
inexpensive or common, that tough, easy to find, that will do
as much as it will. I also know if need be it will save your
life.

Ever consider a Buck Intrepid? Those look like fantastic all around fixed blades designed by the man himself - Kit Carson!
