Just got delivered today...and I noticed this flashlight doesn't have a lens. What is the reason for this?

Got the turquoise one. I'm liking it so far. Didn't think it would be this solid. Sorry for the repetition. I know this light gets talked about constantly.
 
The encapsulation of the LED serves as the optic lens. If you where to place another flat lens over the top, like a regular incandescent flashlight, it would spread the beam out further.

I have carried an ARC AAA for a year or so, and not damaged the LED yet. (Though it might get dusty)
 
I have a neat Kydex sheath for my ARC AAA that came from Phil@2TheHilt. Those LED's are tough! I have a Photon II with a completely exposed LED that's been rattling around in my pocket since they hit the market and it's a bit scratched but still going strong.

You don't need the lens for LED protectin IMHO. I have literally abused an ARC LE for the last year or so. I've managed to ding the finished on the edges of the light when I have dropped it on concrete and rocks but, the light still works the same.

The dished out surface protects the LED pretty well and, does provide some limited focus of the light. I wouldn't want a lens that spreads the light out anymore. Intensity vs. coverage is just about right the way it is. Spread any more, and it would be too dim IMHO.
 
I just got my ARC AAA LE the other day and it's awsome! It blows away the Photon II that I was carrying. The small reflector does the trick I think. With the small light output it's better to have some focus instead of an area light. I can't recomend this light enough!
 
Haven't bought one yet because I haven't been able to find an LE in stock, where did you get yours?

Is it possible to remove the LED assembly and polish the surrounding cone to make a reflector and further improve this little monster?

You could try Texas Tactical Supply. I recently got my Arc from them and heard (afterwards) that they had received a shipment in of the LEs.

Both my Arc-AAA and my Arc-LE came with a polished reflector.
Are you perhaps thinking of the CMG Infinity?
Those have similar dimples but they're coated with the anodizing.
 
PocketLights.com has the Arc AAA in stock. You do not have to polish the cone surrounding the LED on the Arc because it is already polished. See photo below. The Arc AAA is on the left.

I will not be at the gun show tomorrow because we are celebrating my daughter's 1st birthday. I might exhibit at the Eastman guns show on Aug. 24/25 and Sept. 14/15.

I called Texastacticalsupply at 11:00 PM PAcific Standard Time expecting to get voicemail and leave a message regarding the LE and got a real human!

I was so freaked out that I just asked whether they had them in stock and said I'd call back later.

What sort of business answers their phone at this time of night???
