My E2's beam shape

I noticed that if I turn on the light and point it at something really close, there's a dark spot right in the middle of the beam. My E1 doesn't have this problem. I switched the very top of the flashlight (where the bulb goes into) with both lights and when I put the E1 top on the E2 body, the beam is round and flawless. Also, the beam isn't as round as my E1 either. Is there anything I can do about the dark spot and the un-roundness?

My E2-HA has the same dark spot close up. I think that is unavoidable and is probably on all E2s.

However, my beam is round at any distance, so i don't know what is wrong with that.

Actually, the beam is pretty round already. It's just slightly out of round. If I leave the light on and then turn it either clockwise or counter-clockwise, I can tell that the beam isn't comepletely round. If you just shine it and don't rotate the light, it looks pretty round. I guess I'm just being picky.:D

Mine is pretty round. The reflector must be of higher quality than the 6P's (well, actually P60 lamp assemblies).

The dark spot is probably from the bulb, since the reflector isn't center-focussed at such close distances. Just looking for the dark spot blinded me. Heh. Why are you using the E2e at such a near distance?!

And I though I was picky. :)

You have a classic case of needaKL1itus

SureFire's KL1 Luxeon Bezel gives you get closer range illumination that you would normally require a wasteful BeamShaper for (wasteful because your SF123As are producing heat and light that isn't being used)
With the KL1, you get 4.5 hours of constant output. Not even the MN02 Low Output Lamp Assembly can perform that well.

The KL1 is about $45-50 and worth double that. I have one and I can't see myself going back to the standard bulbs for this application ever again.

Could you provide a link to the KL1 bezel I wasn't able to find it or anyone for an E2. Thanks

Thanks those were great sites. I really like those. Guess I'll be getting one of those KL1s for my E2. Thanks

I was just testing it and noticed it. When I got it, I didn't even realize it was there. At a further distance (like a few feet or so) I can't tell that the dark spot is there so it's all good.

Size15s: So the LED conversion kits for the SureFires help when you need them for close up work?
