Knife I build is the Hornet XL, still catching up I hope that I never do!

Some folks have been asking about the production model well it did not happen with TOPs but it has been picked up by another company which I will keep quiet about for now. The production model will be produced in D2 with G-10 in stone wash finish and a upscale in rosewood with a satin finish.

Merry Christmas to all and a safe New year

Spencer

Good for YOU, Spencer!

Hey, your photos are crystal clear. Congrats. Since you're so good, can you show us a photo of how this fits in the hand? It's an interesting handle design, and I want to know more about why it is so.

Obviously others think it's useful, hence the success.

That is one cool-looking little knife. No surprise that it's popular.

That is definitely one of the coolest designs I have seen. What really impressed me was how well you were making them so early in your knifemaking career.

I would like to see it in hand too.
What's the O/A length?

Spencer, do you have a table at Blade?

That is definitely one of the coolest designs I have seen. What really impressed me was how well you were making them so early in your knifemaking career.

Keith I just had one of the very first prototypes with a date inscribed under the handle 03JAN06 back in the shop recently for a little TLC and I will be flat out honest the thing is very rough. Thanks for the compliment though

The OAL is 7 1/4" right around a 3" blade, this will be my second year with a table at the Blade show.

Coop here are the "In the Hand Shots" these are some older photo's and not the same knife. I have large hands and wear a size 5 combat/shooters glove.

Thanks Tom I knew I could count on you:D

I know you've done a lot of different designs, but whenever anyone mentions SAR knives, that's the one I always think of.

Thanks Spencer. That extension off the tail really is the kicker how such a seemingly small handle can still fit and have control. That's obvious, now.

The holes in the ricasso: Do they serve a primary purpose? Let me guess that along with weight savings and simple cool looks, that you could pinch them with your fingers for some delicate work? Si or no?

Coop

Si Coop, here is the article from the January issue of Blade Magazine ( not the same knife other than design) the holes did come about as a form of weight savings but more importantly they help in the indexing allowing the user a greater degree of control.

Just to be clear on Halpern Ti they do lots of profile work for me but not all, the Hornets, uTu's and some other designs are profiled only. All other work is performed in my shop. I do own a very nice bandsaw and "Sole Author" many knives.

Coop I do plan on sending some stuff your way, it will be one of my carving sets? See what happens

Thanks
Spencer

Spence, that is wonderfully informative. Thanks. I've never handled one, but I know I would like it.

Don't think I am trying to butter you up for work. No, I am just impressed with this piece. When and if you are ready, so am I.

Many thanks for your time.

Coop

Kudos to you Spence, mean looking and rugged. Does it come with a sheath kydex for neck carry?

Az, it comes with a kydex sheath set up for multiple carry position strong side vertical, weak-side horizontal, small of back and thats for right or left hand makes no difference. One customer wore it has a necker its a bit of a heavy weight for that IMO.

Thanks
Spencer

Proud to say I have a SAR Hornet, Hornet V in Damascus with Ti Liners and CF Handles!
The Hunter is also Spencer's work!
