I'm on blade #6 for today....


3 Nessmuks and 3 Monster Nessies...

5 of which have been heat-treated....:eek:


I decided this morning to just drop everything I was doing and see if I could grind and heat-treat them all in one day.



The lil' guys don't take that long to grind...but the big ones...Holy Crap! They take forever! and I have no feeling in the index finger on my right hand right now...from the middle knuckle forward.


It's worth it, right??!?

So that means you've still got 3 1/2 good fingers and a thumb on that hand, plus all the ones you have on the other hand? I'm glad to hear that. For a moment there I thought you'd been slaving away all day and were feeling the effects of it :-)

It's a real treat to be able to pop on here on a regular basis and look at your work. You turn out some really classy pieces and I'm sure I'm not the only person who appreciates the effort that goes into not only making the knives, but also into taking the time to share your work with us by posting photos.

The Nessmuk will start at $145, and the Monster Nessies at $245. This is for basic micarta, no sheath.

Nessmuk = 4.5" blade, 4.5" handle

I will have a handful of these available in W2 (0.200" thick) and O1 (0.250").


Monster Nessie = 8.5" blade, 5.25" handle (will have 10 of these available)
1/4" thick 5160 steel


I will be doing a lot of ironwood and cocobolo on these. And a few Koa in the mix too. Maybe one or two in micarta?

I hope your making sure that Tom is keeping up and matches you knife for knife. ;)

Tell him to do that one with the Box elder burl. :D
 
Kelly - the dude can grind circles around me...seriously!

At least twice as fast...and less "correction time"...! :eek:
 
I have 12 knives in ovens tempering right now....


I think it's time to call it a day.
