Well, here it is....so far...I put it together and quickly did a finish on the scales. This will eventually have filework and more thinning on the scales.

It is flat ground, Thunderforged damascus
Desert ironwood scales
3/16" pivot
Ti liner lock
Damascus spine

I worked from Ray Rogers' liner lock tutorial....great stuff!

Looks good. Went for one piece scales since this was a prototype. Liners are titanium, look like swiss cheese under the scales from all the screw-ups. Overall, I loved making this. I will certainly be making more in the future...

I lucked ot after having cute the lock prior to HT, but I did not have much scale, and fit was not affected. This one locks up solid as a rock, and overall I am happy. Its awful smooth, and i can set it to flick open at the wrist without blade play. Ill be sculpting the thumbstud and carrying it as my EDC while moving on to my next folder.....

I had a great first tapping experience, no problems *knock on wood*
This one is kinda thin and sloping. I might even thin the whole length a bit.

Lemmie know what you think!

Nice!
I really like the shape, thumbstuds need to be a bit smaller but that should come when scultping. I think maybe bolster to break up patterns?
Look forward to seeing more!!

Looks good, and i'm sure that it was a learning experience. You can see gaps between the liners and the handle material in a couple of pictures near the top of the knife. I think that you should add a 3rd scale screw up near the top of the knife since you don't have the pivot exposed, it would get rid of the spaces. on the next one you should countersink the screws so they are level with the handle material, those deep holes like to gather lint, dirt ect..

Once you make one you've got the bug.
Regards,
Chuck

Yep!

Those gaps are caused simply by my not countersinking the pivot enough. Once i take off a bit more material, they will sit totally flush. I thre this together in a rush of excitement, just to see how it came out. I used two screws because I plan on possibly putting bolsters on this one and it was more of an experiment than anything else.

I totally agree on the screws....once i saw them, i realized they should have sat a lot higher...another thing to remember for folder #2!

Overall, loved the process. Lots more to keep in mind than a fixed blade!

Came out better than I expected for a first folder....

Damn man!!! WOW..................

you should try anodizing the liners if possible beyond that I wouldnt change a thing.
