Alright, this is the watch I finally bought: the Luminox 1563T, Captain's Field Watch. Steel case and bracelet, cream face w/14 tritium inserts. Water resistant to 165 ft., and seems to be keeping accurate time so far.

Here it is keeping good company:

And a photo I took of how the watch looks in its element [2 sec. exposure, it's not really quite so bright]:

The watch is a discontinued model, I believe, and that's why it's so reasonably priced. Also, they don't offer refunds or do exchanges, even for defective merchandise- you either sell it, or ship it to Luminox for service. I found them on ebay; out of 2296 feedback comments, only 10 were neutral, and 11 negative, so they seemed fairly safe to deal with. Normally, the watch would be in the $160-200 range. The model still in production, the 1563, doesn't have the textured bezel.

Hate to rain on your parade but this watch was going for well under $100 a year ago.
That's about the time that it was discontinued and everyone was closing them out.
But as long as you like it.

Well, a year ago I'd never heard of Luminox watches, or trasers. The only thing I knew had tritium in it were Microtechs' auto knife lock buttons, and gun sights. Also, I still saved at least $45 off an internet price, and more than that from brick and mortar.

That is a fine looking watch and quite a bargain too. I am still waiting for my first Luminox. I asked Bill Yao to do his conversion magic on a Luminox 3100 for me but it will take a few more weeks to get the dials. Ironically the result of the conversion looks a lot like your watch!

Please, post some photos of the finished results, if you can.

Unbelievably great picture quality there! I have the Captain's model with peanut colored leather strap and it's my favorite watch. Talk about bright! You can even see them in a movie theater when the movie screen is bright but it's still too dark to see other watch faces.

Thanks about the pics. The camera is a Sony DSC-50, and it works very nicely for most purposes. I went to a movie over Sat., and was showing off the watch to my friend- she accused me of wanting to go to the movies just so I could look at the watch. :) How did she know

I considered the cream face/brown strap combo, but really prefer black over brown, and that only came with the black face. Also, I think the bracelet style is slightly dressier looking. However, when I showed the watch to my mother, she didn't think it looked dressy at all- I suppose that means I'll just have to buy another watch. :D Oh, well...

Heck I think that 100 dollars that's a honey of a watch. I bought a 3001 about 3 months ago from tadgear.com and it hasn't left my wrist except at work when I wear a Timex turn and pull.
