This thing is seriously rough. My thumb has turned red and raw from flicking this thing around. Any suggestions on how to smooth it out a bit? I don't have a dremmel tool =-/ I was thinking some corse sandpaper but I don't think that would work very well on metal?

probably a hone could smooth it out a bit. use the flippers. It's faster and easier.

I usually use the flipper... it just isn't very people friendly. They tend to stare at ya when you flip out a knife. I'll try the hone though.. that might work pretty well.

A file should work. Go slow and you will get good results.

Oh, Tom's approach will work too. It worked for him!

Seriously, keep using it. Don't do it so much that your thum bleeds or anything. But use it so that it gets a bit raw and sore. Your thumb will build up a callous (sp?)and will no longer hurt. AS a benefit that callous bad will allow you more purchase with your thumb on opening devices.

Get rid of the knife and buy another one that does not have a flipper. I've never figured out the proper technique for the flipper either, and find the "contraption" to be rather rough. I have CRKT M-16 02Z.

It's just pulling down on the flipper and flicking your wrist toward the spine of the handle... that should be enough to open the knife quickly.

yea, just keep using it and youll get used to it

reminds me, my thumb hurt after i got my axis lock, too many openings and closings *and someone said a knife wouldnt see over 1000 pfft*. but now its easy, no pain :)

I don't know if this can be done with an M-16, but I was able to easily remove the thumbstud on another knife, clamp it in the chuck of my drill, and then spin it against a file and sharpening stone. Worked great!

I have an M16/14 that I carry almost everyday at work. I use the flipper mostly, but if you need to be sheeple safe, just use two hands to open it like it was a slipjoint:) ........

Yeah, I use both hand to open my balisong among sheepies. That helps, until someone says: is that knife flippable? I saw people doing that ..

then you can either play dumb " I dunno " ;) or start flipping (those commenting that can't be that sheepie anyway :D )

Try the file. That's what I did on my CF M16 and GO SLOW. I would up taking alittle too much off...

Removing the thumbstuds is not going to be easy because i think they double as the blade stop.
