here's it onmy table to keep all the annoying people away :).. about to finish up here.. good job Neil.. this is awesome!! I didnt think you would even do it, but I am happy with the result.

Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you..
"NB/SB/01", aka. Pocket Skirmish, aka. Bad boy, aka. POKE-NIN :D

Simply amazing use of curves and materials. This knife flows like music from all ends. Uncharacteristic art styling for it's intended use, but's that's the whole point!!! Simply great.

Thanks for posting and showing it off!:D

Is that a large or small Commander? That looks like it is quite a large knife. It really is beautifully done and has those curves that Neil does so well.

where can i get one of those terrorist hunting permits?

I love that knife, is that the first liner lock version?

Between this and the Snody yesterday, i dont see how you can have a bad day.

Oh man that is awesome! It doesn't even look like a folder in that first pic. Where's the pivot???

So how big is it and what's it made of?

Dammit! I was so awestruck I put big scratches in a bali I'm doing some filework on!! That is one incredible knife, SB. Hope we'll get one of your fantastic reviews on it.:)

Wow! If Mr Mike likes it (and he's a hard man to please) :) then it's an honour beyond all honuors Dr. B.

The Pivot is hidden on the non clip side.. which I thougth was a cool touch! I don't think loosening of the pivot is an issue so far cause I have flicked this thign to hell and it';s still smooth and stable!

the specs: 6.25" closed, 5.25" blade (1.75" WIDE!), 11" OAL.. and ONLY 10.2 Ounces!! (the whole thing with countoured scales is around.75" thick Overall)

Neil remind me what steel the proto is? (440C? - you stil one day owe me a S30V framelock :D nyuknyuk) and thicknes? (dont have my calipers handy)

more views and reviews as the days go by.. guys thanks for the compliments :) I was glad to inspire and rub Neil's ego enough to convince him that he WILL kick ass at foldermaking!

Let me just add a few things.......

First, Sniperboy needs to take a DEEP bow! He had MUCHO input on this design. The 3 blade holes, one being the opener, the skull crushers, the SIZE, the handle shape, etc., etc.......... If you saw the original drawing, you would REALLY see what I mean ;) I will be the first to admit folder designs DON'T come easily to me :(

My input consisted of a few ideas as far as the pivot and detent. I found that making a folder THIS BIG, required a few extra touches to make it smooth with a solid lockup AND not have any blade play. The .100 liners give it an authoritative CLICK when it opens!!!

Sniperboys is the prototype, future materials will include D2E, S30V and a bare handled, framelock version. It will be a while before I have time to make more of these. Right now my Curr models are keeping me VERY busy. I'm really enjoying the folder making and can't wait to make more of these BIG ONES :D

Guys.. don't believe this guy.. it was all him :) - all I did was flatter Neil's ego to no end to make him see the TRUTH! That he has a natural gift to make any knife.. fixed and ofcourse folder. My design knowhow is severely lacking in the mechanical deprtment and I would love to chat with you in person as to the mindset you had when laying out and designign the parts, Dr. B. talking to folder makers - I have apprecaite what goes behind the scenes and under the scales of what makes a folder - work!

and this does work.. I wonder if this is REALLY your third (?) folder attempt cause it's damn good! The action is consistent, smooth, yet no wussy.. it offers solid CONSISTANT resistence (you have to hold it to see it) and no blade play. Thwacking it open doesnt seem to give me any bad vibes either.

I am carrying it in the pants by the kidney and it feels good thanks to the contours.. there are no sharp corners EXCEPT where it should be (the skullcrushers) the handles are soft to the tough and the grip is secure yet non abrasive and 'non fatiguing' if you know what I mean. THe countours and smoothing make all the difference..

I thnk you raised the bar TOO high on the proto Neil.. I noticed the engine turning/jewelling on the inner liner.. and notice the green anodizing of the skullcrushers, as well as the purple (?) anodizing of the countersunk holes and liner traction grooves.. AHAHAAHA!

I will look more into it but damn - this terrorist hunting tool is pretty full of surprises.. i wonder if you can fry an egg on it :)

I STILL think that the blade should be canted forward a bit for a pistol grip.. also that we shoul give more meat and grind to the skullcrushers for that lip puckering factor.. :D this wekeend we worked on punyo skullcrusher striks and I am reminded how important the technique is if you can pull it off!!

thanks Rosvall! :) you know what.. Neil has to make me an eviller framelock Mega Meteo Grifter folder with your "vertebrate" jewelling design!! should look evil and also provide nice grip!!

S.,
I agree, a Rosvall/Blackwood biomechanoid collaboration would be cool. An HR Giger like folder :)

Neil

I'm speechless... Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is a folder. OMG! I'm not generally much into folders but this is impressive.

Does this baby have a name? You wanted to tie paracord to it an use it as a morning star sniperboy. Perhaps with the skullcrushers "Morning Star" would be a good name for it...

There's that big black bad boy that I remember. When the three Turners were down at Neil's picking up our Medium Hunters, Neil brought this bad boy out. It was about to be finished (no edge yet and "not as smooth" as Neil wanted it to be yet).

I can tell you from first hand knowledge this thing was big and bad. My dad, brother and I all checked it out and were amazed. Sniperboy all I can say is enjoy, I am sure Neil fine tuned it and it is even more amazing than when we saw it. Much bigger than I would ever carry, but believe Sniperboy when he says it feels great in the hand and it is not as heavy as it looks.

Keep it up... Neil.
