Well, I was mourning the sale of my Mirage when I saw a CQC6 at a good price. It has the secondary bevel but I figured that I would give it a chance. It arrived today and all I can say is that I will be carring it for a long time. I have had a few 6's but this one by far has the best fit and finish, as well as lock up. I almost passed this one up because I had just bought a custom Phaser, but I couldn't resist. And I am glad I didn't. I don't know what some poeple are complaining about as far as QC, mine is perfect.

I too have found that those newer CQC-6's are outstanding users. They are expensive for a daily carry knife, but hey, you only live once. I was actually able to break in my 2000 six in during a real encounter, and I now have a special place for it. Now if you have anymore fixed blades that need a home......

Whoa - Nyeti! You BROKE your 6 during an "encounter?? Care to give us the lowdown?

Sorry-I've been at work for 14 hours already (6 to go). I edited the post-it should have been "break in". I used it closed to remove a combative, heavily doped up, suspect from a car with the end of the 6 buried in the inside of above piece of feces elbow. He released the death grip on the steering wheel, and was arrested without a "full scale" deployment of the rest of the blade. Its not the whole "glamorous knifefight" thing, but it still was a good real world deployment.

Rich, congrats on your new '6! I've been carrying my new 2000 '6 on the job and off for about 3 weeks now, and love it! One of it's primary functions at present is to wave under the noses of my knife savvy pals who haven't yet seen mine.....

I believe that the quality control complants referred mostly to Emerson production models, with a few references to liner locks in general. I have two customs and just got my first production model, and they are all just fine.

Carry that '6 in good health!

AND....Nyeti, I hold LEOs in the highest respect, but you need to watch your references to "suspects" here. 'Actor,' 'perp' or 'customer' may be less likey to offend, especially when they are segments of excreted digested material.

Hey Joe. Its one of those "west coast things". We call everyone out here "suspects" (even if we watched them commit a crime). In 13 years on the job in Southern California, the only time I have ever heard a bad guy called an "actor, or perp", is while watching Cops episodes from the eastern part of the country. Normally I would compromise with customer, but in this case a heavily doped up subject had just finished causing a very serious traffic collision in which his reckless actions rolled a van carrying several elderly ladies who were bringing donated food to church, and wrecked several other cars and nearly hit mine with my family in it. The Emerson came into to play as the driver was attempting to flee the scene, leaving all these people to fend for themselves in the middle of a busy freeway. In my book that qualifies as a piece of feces. I was off-duty at the time, so we'll call the comment my personal rather than professional opinion.

RJ,
You finally got that much sought after Phaser. I know you chased that baby for a while. Enjoy it and the 6.

Nyeti, you're a good man to take control of that scene off duty, especially with the family in tow.

Just this AM flew a Amishman to the Trauma Center that was left for dead, possibly all night, in a ditch. Hit and run driver struck the buggy (hard enough to destroy it and kill the horse.) The poor guy (86 y/o) was severely head injured and hypothermic, but hopefully will pull through. As for the POS driver, I hope he's caught. This one deserves the OTHER pointy end of the '6....

Jackstraw- yep, I finally found one after about 7 yrs of looking.

nyeti- here on the east coast we don't bother calling people like that anything. It is not worth our time to come up with a name for them (except prisoner 324354346 for a few years).
