A while back I asked for advice in deciding if the Peanut was a good choice for conservative edc. (Thanks for the assist on that everyone.)Well just as I was about to order the peanut. I noticed that the Case Mini Copperhead w/ Wharncliffe main blade and amber bone jigged handle was back in stock. (SMKW.) That's the pattern I was originally interested in, just got tired of waiting for it to be re-stocked. So that's the one I ordered. My only complaint is: there's no real snap when I open either blade (it has a pen blade too.) it just kind of rolls into place. Now, I'd already given it a cleaning and baby oil soaking for the benefit of the scales and a healthy dose of 3 in 1 oil on the pivots so maybe that has something to do with the apparent lack of snap in the blade movement ? Opinions/ advice welcomed:) Overall very happy with the purchase and will edc this one for some time to come.

Hi p'chop, If the springs feel weak when you open the blades, then you may have got one with weak springs, but if the blades still take effort to open, and feel real snugg it might just need breaking in, in that case just use it and open and close it for a few days and see if it gets better. If your not happy with it I wouldn't hesitate in returning it, all my case knives have good walk and talk. Good luck!

One trick I use is to put a drop or two of dish soap in the pivot, then work it open and closed under hot running water a number of times. Often, you'll get crud floating out that you couldn't see. I've seen knives go from no snap at all to nice and crisp this way.

(Mods: sorry about originally posting in the wrong spot.) I appreciate the advice. I can't believe I forgot to mention it,but the main blade has a small area about mid way along the length that is scuffed/scratched from rubbing caused by the small blade. Hate to do it but maybe I should expect the product to be better overall and send this one back for an exchange.
