Hi folks,
Well I sold some things on ebay and decided to buy an exspensive knife. Well, to me it is. I had been looking for a 63032 Stockman. My favorite. And I came across a 53032 at Shephard Hills. Decided to go for it. Well it came today and all I can say is WOW! To my eyes, the fit and finish is perfect. The stag is incredable. My intention was to use this as my EDC everyday for the rest of my life. But I had second thoughts since it cost so much and it is perfect. But I did cut a few things with it and it has been in my pocket for a while. So I think I will be OK with using it. But if you "experts" recommend differently, I would reconsider. In other words, I am not 100% sold on carrying this one.

Well here are pics of her. Please excuse the blades have some finger swet smuges I thought I had gotten off. Flash just amplifies it.

Thanks for looking. And comments or advice is always welcome.

Very nice and good looking scales...now if it were only CV...:p

All kidding aside why wouldn't you carry it? I bet your car cost more yet you drive it everyday rather than locking it away in the garage just to look at. I dare say you have other things you use daily that cost more. Carry, use it, let it get a little pocket worn. Most of all enjoy it.

That's a real beauty you have there. Whatever you decide I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Carry it.... It's a beautiful knife and will be even better with stories of how you used it.

Nice looking stag. I bet the more you carry it, the less you will want to carry anything else!

Life is short, drop it in your pocket and use it! You won't get the pleasure and joy of using a fine tool if it sits in a dark drawer somewhere. Use it and create memories with it.

I have a stag Henckels stockman I inherited when my grandfather died. Two blades are really short (but he kept them razor sharp!), and half of a scale cracked off. Those are his "life marks" that he put on his knife that I can now treasure. If he had kept it pristine in a drawer somewhere, the knife would have no sentimental value for me, it would not have the emotional connection that the knife he used and treasured now has for me in its current state. It is my Sunday-go-to-meetin'-and-use-reverently-and-think-of-grandpa knife. It reminds me of him.

BTW I see you like a pen instead of a spey blade. I do too, I just find them a whole lot more useful. I also remember you prefer Tru Sharp to CV. So you have a stockman with great fit and finish, with a pen blade in Tru Sharp with stag. That right there is an ideal knife. Go put some life marks on it and enjoy what it can do in your skilled hands. Make it a knife someone will someday treasure, like I treasure my grandpa's knife.

Case is the only one out there making hollow grinds it seems these days. Use it and enjoy it. they're less enjoyable sitting in a box.

wow love those scales and nice picts too!
I really like the blade profile of that version of the medium stockman, my yeller medium has the California style clip. Funny i was just thinking about this very topic this morning when i was touching mine up. Wishing mine were the full bellied clip...
Beautiful knife, and you should definitely carry it, hard to beat that size stockman, almost the perfecct knife:)
cheers

Looks so nice that I have been searching for one of those. Buck Fan can you give me the link to that particular knife?

I am squarely with the "carry it" crowd. Look how much more character a knife has when it has been time tested and shows the careful wear that someone that appreciates a nice knife gives it.

If you keep it perfect, likely you might pass it on to someone that is also afraid to use it, and it will just be a oddity, an example of a fine knife. But if you use it for a couple or three decades and pass it on to someone, it could be a real treasure for them.

I don't want museum pieces. I bought them with my money, for me. I want to enjoy them. So in the pocket they go!

Same here, exactly.

A safe queen has no memories built in.

Yep, nice knife!

I say carry it, but first make yourself a little slip pouch with a velcro flap to carry the knife in. That way you still have easy access, but it protects you nice scales from other items you may put in the pocket.
