I just shined it and my Surefire Millenium M6 together. WOW, what a difference. It is basically similar in output to the (eventual) Surefire BEAST. I am pretty darned pleased with it....

Can you provide a link to some info on the McCulloch? I didn't find anything with a brief Yahoo search except chainsaws :). Thanks.

try here

7 million candlepower
35 W xenon bulb
70 minute run time NiMH batteries

total package weighs 14 lbs in the case, but the light and one battery aren't tooooo bad.

but man it throws off a lot of lite.

Holy cow, that is a monster! At first I thought this was going to be a review of a new pocket flashlight... :D

Ummm damn! That light is pretty big. It comes with a shoulder strap!

I wonder how it'll compare to the M6 HID edition?

From what I'm reading the X990 and the Beast/Hellfire have two different consumers in mind.

The McCulloch will be for the working man and is built as such. Which includes a longer warm up time for extending bulb life.

The Sure Fires have tactical situations in mind. So no compromises on start up time. This results in shorter bulb life even though they both use the same D2 series bulb. These are the flashlight versions of the squad auto weapon. :D

And here's some beam comparison pics Mr Ted Bear took of a pre-production version. He can get you a deal on them. I think about $40 off list.

I have read about warmup time in these posts. Mine comes on immediately. I don't get it. It does seem brighter after a few seconds, but I was writing that off to reflections blinding me...

Our friendly local gendarme drove by. The x990 is way brighter than the spotlight on his cruiser. Heh, heh, heh.... this is great
