sarge i just couldant resist, after you tellin about how good it can chop. SORRY ABOUT PUTTIN THIS ON YOUR POST,
sometimes i just dont stop to think.so have moved it. i know no one said anything but when i went an looked at it, i thought hey this should be in its own post not hogging yours... i am learming :D

OK so out in to the back yard, down to an old old fruit tree, it has several dead limbs about 5 inch thick. well i started chopping, fine bit nice an deep, after about 8-12 chops, got to the middle of limb, hard as rock, continued chopping this time harder, had to adjust grip a few times to prevent jarring and BUTT biteing. took about 25-30 chops, and i was through. very impressed. but i will be putting on a bit of padding of some form, as will make it great for heavy occassional chopping, one might encounter while out an about.
check blade still nice an sharp, took it inside cleaned, oiled an back into scabbard.:)

ps just thought why bother with padding, now i think about it the main problem was butt of the handle that bothered me the most, it kept digging into my hand with the heavy blows. i will do some mods on it??. and let you know the results.

well i then got to thinkin, how did it realy perform compared to say ak 18 inch, cos the only way to realy compare would be to chop another 2ft length of the exact same limb??.
so out the back again this time with the ak 18inch.
chop chop chop bites deeper on same limb, takes about 6-8 chops to get to rock hard centre, bloody tough going even for the ak ,
carried on took about another12-16 total approx 22-25 chops before through, surprised.
not that much difference , except nowhere near as much jarring,
and no BUTT biteing useing the ak. [Bigger handle],but jarring was still a problem as this wood is like iron. however the ak has about 1/4inch of nonslip padding strip wrapped around the handle. so makes me wonder haw much better the penknife will be with the same padding. i will do this later, along with the handle butt modification, and then chop another 2ft piece off the limb.

OK let me tell you this was a very extreme test for the ak, let alone the little penknife. the penknife went through a pine billet 2 by 4
like butter.
the limb i am chopping is dead dry 20 year old fruit wood limb, still attached to tree approx 5 inch thick, and is as hard as seasoned oak, more like iron. so as i said to sarge i LOVE it, this little penknife khuk, would have no problem detatching a limb,or mabee even yor head. it would certainly make a devestating wound in any adversary, be it animal or man,[ IF ] the need arose. after this test i would feel confident carrying this as a personal defense weapon, and general all purpose knife, with no reservations whatsoever. AND TO TOP IT OFF IT IS LIGHT AND SUPERFAST IN THE HAND. :D :) :D
the large belly ect gives it phenominal power for the size.

BILL I MUST SAY my personnal opinion is you would be well advised to include the penknife in the regular H I khuk line as it is a magnificent performer and well deserving of this honour. :D :D

ps have sent pic to bill and pendentive of the mods i have done on my penknife to make it how i prefer all my khuks.had to use my scanner. so not all that clear but acceptable .maybee if i am lucky one of them will post for me. :)

YEP ALL DONE
took about 15 mins looks and feels great.
too late an dark to try out but will do soon an let yous know.:D

OK all done the handle mod was exactly what was needed,i tried it out again ,this time was a pleasure to use no matter how hard i chopped the wood, and no adverse effects to grip, quite the contary, excellent firm grip.

right now the dirty bit.
i picked up the penknife looked at it an decided on the profile i wanted on the handle butt. grabbed the angle grinder, said a prayer an started cuttin.
i cut from the rear inwards just about 1/4 inch above the diamond shaped tang peened raised thingy.
angaling upwardstill it exited at top off handle approx 3/4 inch along, if you want be a bit more cautios an remove less and repeat till you get it where you want it.
then rough shape it ,ie round it off.
then fine shape it with smooth file, or as i did with a dremel small sanding drum, then finish with sand paper to get the required smoothness, polish.
mine finished up about 1/8th inch above the diamond thingy on butt.

this ended up completeing the project , with the penknife reshaped horn handle left as i like em, slightly roughed with no polish, matt finish, non slip grip.
non slip finish to karda + chakma,
blade refinished to slightly dulled bluish tinge,
scabbard defanged, another words brass thingy taken off the end.so wont bite-poke you in use. i like to think of it as STEALTH look no shiny stuff looks great an feels great. i do all my khuks this way. what do you all think ?????. :D :D :o MIGHT TAKE A BIT FOR BILL TO PUT NEW PIC UP WITH OTHER ONE. AS HE IS BUSY IM SURE. that will teach him to make such good khuks available. he he

PS HAVE ALLREADY ORDERED ANOTHER ONE. just cant say eneough how this little khuk has impressed me what a great job, praise to Pendentive HI and Bura. :D :D

Well, I guess if I got an eye patch instead of having my prosthetic eye worked on, I could afford to get a Pen knife.:):p

You're welcome Heber, hope it covered the correct eye.;):D

Nope, but oh well. Back when I was really little the doctors thought I had lazy eye in my right eye (which is completely blind) so they made me wear an eye patch over my left eye (the good one). Looking back on it now, it's rather funny and a little anouying too. Dang doctors couldn't figure out why I couldn't see when they covered up my good eye.
