Mystery Military Knife

I recently bought a military knife from a flea market for $10 bucks, but have no clue to who made it. It has approx. 6" blade in a spear point design with a olive drab green plastic-type handle. The blade is marked with this "FKS 70" with no other markings. The blade took nearly 1 1/2 hours to sharpen to a razor edge and I have cut everything with it and it still shaves. If anyone can tell me some info. about it. Thanks;)

If it is a rather blunt spearpointed blade and a OD green coke bottle type handle it may be a German Army Kampfmesser or Combat knife. They were issued some time back. Another distinguishing point would be a aluminum scabbard with a leather hanger and retention strap. They were usually not that sharp but prettty good steel. Sorry I do not have a photo, but used to use one as a Jumpmaster knife because of the shape and metal scabbard.

It does have a coke bottle shaped handle and sort of a blunt spear point. The knife actually feels good in your hand and it will shave but you'll have to work at getting that first edge. I wish some one could tell me more or if some one had a link to a site. I appreciate the info. you gave me on this knife. Thanks.

If it's the same one as I've had, mine had "Rostfrei" stamped on the blade and no other markings. The shape is roughly the same shape as the "Hitler Youth" knife. The knife itself takes an excellent razor sharp edge in spite of the thick blade. Using the metal scabbard is what dulls the knife.

Unfortunatly it only has FKS 70 stamped on the blade. It is a good knife and yes it does look like the hitler youth knife except for the handle. Do you know if they are worth anything?:D

Hi bigblackjim!

You may probably identify your knife if you type in the following:

"www.knifes.de/bundeswehrmesser.htm" and look at Stock# 101314

Good Luck

Allmi;)

If I'm not mistaken, it's a hitler youth knife...
the inscrition should say "blut und ehre" which I've been told was "blood and honor" the value and description should be all over the internet...

one thing though, as stated in another thread on this board, ww2 german artifacts are subject to heavy counterfeiting so prices prices, I assume, fluctuate quite a bit.
