Name etch on Stellite

I am going to be grinding a blade from stellite this weekend and have one question. Will the name etching process that I use on stainless work on stellite? Is the recommended etching solution the same?

Hey George..

I'm not 100% positive,, but I do not believe it will work..

I know Jeff tried his normal etch on Dendendric andit didn't work..

There isa special solution you canget though..

George, if you are using an electro chem machine do it the same as you would stainless, Stellite/Talonite takes a good mark with the electro chem process. Its the only way I have been able to corrode it!

It doesnt go very deep...and the ac part come out much less black that with steel, but it doesn work......look at Rob and my webpages, there are lots of Stellite knives with our names on them.
