native III compared to native

They are both very good knives, although the Native III has thicker handle which feels very secure. If you have big hands, that is...
I have small hands, and find the Native better suits me.
The steel is not a steel junky dream, but overall very good knives, It would be the size of hand that would make any difference between the two, I think.

Agree with Fairlane. Will add that, if knew I was going to be breaking down a couple hundred boxes, or doing some other kind of cutting for a couple hours straight, the Native III would be my choice because of the very comfortable contoured handle. In reality, whatever knife I am carrying spends 99% of its time in my pocket, so when I carry a Native, I opt for the C41 since it is more comfortable to sit on for a couple hours straight. Aside from that, some folks choose or reject the Native III based on whether they like or dislike the wire clip.

I have two S30V Natives, a PE & a SE. I also have one Native III that's a factory 2nd.

Each of the S30V Natives have something wrong with 'em. A little blade play on the SE, & the back of the lock bar that sits way too high on the PE. :(

The factory second Native III PE... well... I can't find a thing wrong with it to save my life. Maybe it's a little tight  I don't know. Lock up is like a bank vault!

VG-10 steel is much easier to sharpen, & I can get it so much sharper than S30V, that there's no comparison.

Absolutely love the handle on the Native III. It fits your hand like a glove. :) Can't say I like the wire clip.

Well there's my $.02

Me too (except for the small hands bit) I like the Native III in almost evey way - It's not as smooth as the Native and can get quite stiff to open with a bit of pocket lint. But it's my daily EDC for every time but when I go bush.

Every other knife feels awkard by comparison.

any thouhts on the native III compared to the native

I'm EDCing my Native III now. I had a Native, and it was beyond dull. My Native III is a great little knife. I've been using it as an EDC for the past 4 months every day, and it hasn't needed a sharpening.

Here is a few pics of the Natives together. Personally I like the Native size, just wish it had vg10 steel. As others have mentioned, the Native III does have a good grip for extended or heavy cutting.
