I recently picked up a Native at Wally-World and am glad I did. I have a minor flashlight fetish and they all tend to come in those miserable blister-packs. Not particularly difficult for a good knife to cut them open, but I have noticed that just a couple of blister-packs can have a noticable effect on a blades edge, especially thinner edges.

We have been doing a bit of remodeling and the knife has cut a bit of wallpaper, opened boxes containing flooring material and cut open 4 flashlight blister-packs. So far I cannot detect any real effect on the edge and it continues to slice very well.

Good job Spyderco, love the knife.

Congratulations! It's pretty much unanimous here that the native is one of the finest spyderco's ever made. Sometime in may or june (after my wallet recovers from the simultaneous release of the waved delica and endura) I plan on getting one to replace my old se gen 2 in GIN1.

I too find the Native extremely user friendly, whether carrying, handling or cutting. Love that blade profile. Just an excellent every day use knife. My only complaint is some micro-chipping in the blade but, I am not going to get excited about it. I am sure it will sharpen out. I plan to add the Native 3 to my collection and, the SS version a little later. The SS version has a particularly smooth action.

$40 for a hair-popping razor sharp S30V blade and a user friendly handle is very hard to beat.
