Neck knives--Gigand, cold steel? others cheap?

Hello, All.
I am in the market for a neck knife. I currently own the small Cold Steel ready edge, and I like it alot, but I want a flatter handle. (and maybe a bigger blade) I thought about just getting a paraedge, but I don't really think I want a boxy kidex sheath. That's one thing I like about paraedge, is the small sheath. I also considered the outdoor edge knife at the time
AND THEN I think I saw the Answer I wanted. The new Gigand neck knives. They are bigger, but they have a small sheath. The only thing is, I think I would prefer something with serrations. As far as I know, I'm out of luck,at least as far as the serrations go. Anyway, HAS ANYONE USED these knives? or CAN YOU SUGGEST SOMEOTHER OPTIONS in high quality, but low(er) cost neck knives. BTW I just bought a bud nealy damascus, but I really don't want to use it.
(I'll be happy just to collect it, thank you). Anyway, thanks. Also, this will be a knife I'll probably use a lot (just like my ready edge) but I also wanted something just a little bigger to use as a tactical, just in case. Thanks again.
Ed

I recently picked up a REKAT utility. It's very flat, but no serrations. It's a nice user. Mark @ MJ&J had them for $29.

Have you thought of going for a custom? Ray Kirk (Raker knives) makes a very nice neck knife called the 'lil blueII, its tough, well made and razor sharp. Best of all, you get a custom knife, from a well respected maker, and he only charges 75 dollars for that model, its a steal.

Do search in Blade discussion forum for "neck knives" and you will find your answers. I like Boker Specialist by Bud Nealy, NK by Gary Bradburn, and many others....

for quality, utility, and price, you just can't beat Newt Livesay's Woo or Little Pecker neck knives

Heh heh...neck knives again. I'll second the Newt Livesay suggestion. Are you only carrying for defensive purpose or are you going to whip it out to open mail and peel fruit? If not, and at the risk of spamming shamelessly, I have a Livesay Titanium Bugger I'd sell you for $25. It's a THIN knife, cord-wrapped handle, a tanto design (wish he had a picture of it on his site, I think someone else does on a past thread, though), and mine is POINTY! It also comes w/ a kydex belt clip w/ nylon screws. Its slim profile doesn't (including the sheath) leave a footprint, the whole package is non-magnetic. Did I get that right? I knew someone talked about a Ti knife getting detected...Anyway, you can't go wrong w/ Livesay's stuff, they're all reasonably priced (under $50) and if he's got them in stock, they'll get to you quickly. Out of all the neck knives I've owned, Livesay's product line, in the context of best bang for the buck, is second to none, especially if price is an issue.

If you want something really vicious, take a look at the new CS Mini-Culloden neck knife. It's not small overall, but is very flat and easy to carry. At selling prices it's a real bargain, and it is SHARP out of the box, with a needle point. I really like my Gigand Guardian too, but have heard that the partial tang handle is a weak point.

I put a Mosquito in my back pocket and sat on it -- the now-famous Cougar Allen Fundamental Knife Test. The Mosquito failed. I sent it back and still haven't received a replacement, and it's been about six months now.

I'm living on the edge!

I really like my Guardian with the clip point and false edge which was easily sharpened . I too had concerns so I did some hard cut testing because of the tang only extending 1/2 way into the handle. I couldn't break it while making the cuts. One point though(don't leave the pocket clip on the sheath if you are going to carry under your shirt neck style. I had it under my shirt while sparring and took a hard hit on the sheath and I now have a scar on my chest.)
The magnetic sheath is also very fast on the draw.
