Uncle hold on to one of them 30" inchers for me...I got the BAKCA to goto in Palo Alto the 28th and 29th so after that good show I'll take one.

(if it's just me, feel free to smack me)

I always cring when I see a good khukuri stuck tip-first into a piece of wood, etc. Those tips are often soft enough that you can break or chip one that way.

For me, it's kinda like hearing fingernails on the chalkboard...

If you don't agree, that's ok, see above in parentheses...:p

long as you dont move the blade side to side your fine and that goes for any sword/knife...if you were to chop at a branch and say the blade tip was soft as you mentioned and it hit I guess the same soft enough tip could chip or break away?...just do NOT tweak it side to side and all should be well "we hope"...here are 2 Viking swords one a custom Glen Parrell Vinland Viking on the right and the other is a Kris Cutlery Viking sword both stuck tip 1st in the same wood block...if I did not know what I was doing these 2 swords which are much thinner then the H.I products would have chipped or broken away ...+ the wood is Monterey Cypress that came out of my front yard about the same hardness as Pine, maybe a little softer did not even scratch the fine finish on the swords

I dunno, I do the same thing often. 'Course, I cut coins with mine as well. Cliff Stamp sticks his HI khuks into holes in cement and tries to bend them...makes me look like an amateur.

Sweet-- Thise are some sweet viking blades. How does the Kris viking blade compare? Is it pretty heavy?

Sweet, Sweet! Glad they could bring the weight down from 4+ lbs. back in the day, they made it without a fuller, just a thick flat center. Gives you an idea of what fullering can do, (also in the realm of khuks.)
I have a A&A Shifford viking. It's only about 34" bit maybe an ounce over two lbs. Call it an even kilogram. really nicely done.

Scramaseax--I've got some really good patterns fer those too. I'd be interested in doing the rune etching on those! Then of course I'd hafta order one and all...I know a dozen would be gone in a week or less....

Tarwar=Short sword, and I'll bet a Kumar Karda would make a nice companion dagger, hmmmmmm;)
