I need a good camcorder like one of the HDD harddrive cams. I bought the JVC enviro 30 gig camcorder last fall. I like it, but I want better features. I am concidering one of their more advanced camcorders.

It should have a digital output for plugging directly into the TV and for the digital input for a regular DVD burner not just the computer, as I have no clue how to use the PC to process video anyways. I have been doing my editing/disc burning using the standard analogue outputs, but I want to go the digital output for better resolution for viewing and burning.

The camcorder needs to work well in low light, be quick in function, and with good video.

Camcorder Info is a good site to help you figure out exactly what you want. Based on their ratings and reviews, I went with a Canon HF100 last year.

I made the deep plunge and came home with a Sony HDR-XR520V HDD camcorder. Nice unit, fast and it works well in very low light condions. I like the High def, looks great on hi def TV sets. It also has a 12 mega pix photo shot, and a built in GPS which could come in handy. Its got digital outputs, and an analogue one for old TV sets. Very versitile. It's full 1080 hi def, with 240 gigs of HD.

The store owner has also agreed to help train me with how to work with video on the PC for editing. This will be a learning curve worth far more than the camera, if I can master this.

All in all a great purchase at $1350, but the price went up a bit more with the second battery, memory stick for photos and carrying case
