I'm looking for a good camp axe for under 100$ cdn.. so like 56-60 american.. (I think that's about right)needs to be really sturdy... and under 6lbs or so.. pipe axes are not sufficient for the type of punishment that I put my axes through.. I used to have a decent boy's axe.. cut pretty quick.. but the treated oak handle only lasted a few camping trips.. i'm looking for something that will last a little longer than a few trips.. like.. for ten or fifteen years of use and abuse.. after all.. the last thing I need is for my axe to break on me in a survival situation.

H & B Forge sells an AWESOME camp axe. THe regular sized one is 48.00 and the smaller one is 40.50. BOth are handforged, American made by Will Barber and son and are guaranteed for life-you can't go wrong!

The Estwing Camper's axe ($49.95) and Sportsman's axe (38.95)are all-hardened steel and hold an edge very well. They slice through wood better than anything else I've tried. They don't have quite the balance of a wood-handled axe, but if you want something that will take punishment, Estwing tools are know to be the best striking and struck tools there are.
