Need advice on sharpening stone for Kershaw Chive

I notice that my Chive has a little burr on the edge close to the tip. What kind of sharpening stone do I need to get to make it razor-sharp? Thanks.

The best thing to sharpen a recurve is the Spyderco Sharpmaker. If you want a cheaper solution, my friend uses the Gatco Tri-Seps (think that's what it's called), for touching up his Chive.
 
Hi!

I've never achieved that astonishing factory edge that comes with kershaw knives but every one of my knives is sharpened at shaving point.
I don´t use the conventional way for sharpening a knife. I have a median grit oil stone for those really dull knives and the remaining part of the job is done with fine grain sand paper (600-800-1200-2000).
The avantage of using sandpaper is that you can choose the form of your sharpening tool. So you should coose a round surface evolve it with a piece of the finest sand paper you can find (800-1200 grit will be great for polishing your edge to shaving point) strech the sand paper, clamp it to your sharping tool and your ready to go.
At the end if you want strop the knive in a lather surface to get the edge a litle sharper.
I use this technique to every one of my knives and it works in every steel type.
Remember to keep the factory sharpening angle.

The corners of the fine rods in my sharpmaker are great for dealing with that recurve.

Of course, in this case the sharpmaker costs more than the knife, but it's a great doodad to have around.
 
I just got my first :D Sharpmaker :D about 1 week ago and now ever knife I own, or have got my hands on will :cool: shave and split hairs. It is by far the best and easiest to use sharpner I have ever tried.
