Well, it looks like there is going to be a necker contest over on WSS and Im getting in it! Mostly just to see how my knives will stack up against the big guys as a user. There will be specific tasks involved for the knife so the testers can compare equally. What are some things you guys like on neckers. Im thinking a drop point with less belly and a more basice handle. Or, should I go with the forward swell.

haha...it begins. i will insert more helpful information after i finish stuffing my face with dinner

You might have to pm me Alan, Bills in the challenge now and I wanna spank his ass!LMAO!

yah i just saw that a few minutes ago...I will send it in a PM if you want. I had offered to help out with the challenge... no one even responded, so i don't think it will be a big deal to share my thoughts on the topic.

drop point, decent belly, THIN scales (1/8 - 3/16) - not cord wrap, not more than 6.5" overall.

Thanks guys, I was playing Alan! Vik, interesting size. Would you like a full 4" handle with 2.5" blade or 3 1/2 and 3"? The thin scales are going to be the kicker for me. I just don't like them but understand with the use of the knife. I have some stuff that will work. What about the handle shape. Conventional or palm swell. To me anything under 4" should be conventional since there really is no palm on the knife.

yah the full sized handle is clutch on the smaller bladed knives. I like drop point as well, and agree that you should have scales on you knife. Blade length between 2.5 and 3.5 inches (whatever feels right) and a good sized handle. Kydex sheath. sharp like a razor

2.5" and 4" would work better for me, but 3" and 3.5" is probably workable for most. Actually, I think 2 7/8" from tip to front of scale to squeak under the 3" limits in some states would be perfect.
I'd go with 1.25" wide drop point no thicker than 1/8", maybe 3/32" and a high saber grind. (1/2 - 2/3 height of the blade)
The high saber gives you the same primary bevel angle as a full flat grind in a thicker steel - but with less overall weight.
teardrop the handle to give you something like a choil without losing any blade length -- this also allows for some of that "wide-butt" feel without adding thickness.

If you go with a cord wrap instead of scales, soak it in epoxy after wrapping to protect the steel and prevent it from soaking up sweat or other fluids.

Thanks guys, Im drawing one out as we speak!
