Got my Red, White and Blue Handled Stellite from Neil Blackwood today... just after I finished putting up the lights on the 35' flag pole. I needed a little Christmas pick me up!

Great fit and finish, AND great sheath! Thanks Neil!

More nice work from Neil, you are lucky I don't like G-10

Is the wattage count contest open to all?

Congratulations on the knife! And nice to see you mention the sheath. My Blackwood miniHawksbill has a kydex sheath that is as good as it gets. Now, as far as decorating that 35' flagpole......??

Michael,

This is THE worst time of the year to ship anything, I'm glad it arrived!!! I'm glad you like it!!!!!
James,
Those CEEEGARS of Michaels are very, VERY GOOD!! Good luck with your guess

Richard,
The new sheaths have a CF concelex front panel on them and I must say, look SHARP!
Everyone,
I just returned from a fishing/hunting adventure and actually had the chance to put my Stellite test knife though its paces. So far I'm VERY impressed!! The stain "PROOF" around saltwater is a given, no need to even go there. As far as edgeholding, all I can say is, I will need to go on several more adventures before it will need sharpening. It stood up very well to cutting frozen bait, HEAVY monofiliment, and lots of use on a wood cutting board. I know this is not very technical, but I WAS on vacation and just enjoyed USING the knife!! The knife I have has a flatter, hunter style grind on it. I wanted to make sure the thinner edge would hold up before I took any orders for Stellite hunters. So far, so good, I'll make some hunters from the next material!!
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone,
Neil

My first Blackwood, a Stellite small game, made it here before Christmas too. The fit and finish are top notch. I agree that his Concealex sheaths are top notch. I can't wait for my Talonite hunter that is coming next month. Sorry I can't post a pic, but Neil probably can. Merry Christmas.

Cool shipping boxes, too! (That warning about Stellite dust may explain some of our good friend Mr. Mayo's posts. Tom, you really should have read the box!) Will try to get the scanner hooked up to get a better picture of the sheath. It looks (and fits) great!!!

Michael

PS: What's that white stuff?? It never snows on Cape Cod!!

Tom,

Guys that try to cheat at counting (because they think they know the answer) always loose.

I also just received my first Blackwood knife - an American Ninja. Beautiful colorful use of Titanium, I just love the Recurve of the blade, just an overall great design and excellent execution.

Neil, I live on a farm so I am going to try the new knife out this Spring when I have to Castrate my calves. How do you think it will hold up?

Maybe I should have opted for the Stellite blade huh?

I doubt this will be my last Blackwood blade. Great work Neil.

We need a Smiley with a very swelled head!!!
As I mentioned before, once the Stellite is actually cut, drilled and profiled... I really enjoy working with it. I have a few ideas on the back burner that will hopefully be made in Stellite in the next month or so.
Thanks again for all the support and enthusiasm. Happy holidays to all!
Neil
PS: Hillbillenigma, the American Ninja would work but I prefer the Hawkbill. Since I moved to FL, I have had the honor of assisting with this procedure on several occasions

Neil,

Want to talk about tough? Do you know how hard it is to get those Padron Aniversarios in Maduro???
smile.gif

Many compliments from the general public on your knife and sheath! They don't get the Stellite part, but the R,W&B handle seems to be less threatening than the stock black ones...

Yep, Neil's artistry had a lot to do with making Christmas 2001 an especially happy one for me, as well
smile.gif
. I've been out of town for a few days (and away from any computer), so I haven't been able to brag about about my latest aquisition (at least not to anyone who would understand
biggrin.gif
), but shortly before the Holidays I was able to purchase a similar Stellite tac/utility blade from Mr. Blackwood. It arrived just in time for the festivies, and it sure topped the usual gift assortment of neckties and fruitcakes. My knife is very similar to Michael's (at least it appears to be), but it has beautifully sculpted handles of black G-10 that reveal a cool grey-black "grain" effect. Like some of the other posters, I'm usually not a fan of G-10 handles, but there's no denying that they can be things of beauty when they're done right (and Neil definitely does them right). The Stellite blade has performed wonderfully so far. Thanks again, Neil...this is seriously good stuff.

Jim

Jim,

Thanks!

I appreciate you going into detail about the G10. All G10 is NOT UGLY
eek.gif
I find it provides great grip with matte finish and the three handle holes. I prefer to use G10 or carbon fiber on that model because it's so tough. The handle holes create areas where the handle material becomes quite thin. I wouln't want to use a material like wood or anything less structurally sound.
Let me know how the knife performs as far as cutting?? I'm still evaluating my little Stellite knife....So far...So good.
