Thanks for the thread....my Dad went in on Utah with 90th as T/Sgt Medic. Tuff. He made it 7 days before being hit in head with shrapnel from German artillery while tending to wounded in the field. Interesting side note concerning the Saving Private Ryan clip...and the time frames from the movie and my dad...both hit beach 06JUN44....my dad was wounded 7 days later..13JUN44. Hank's character hit beach 06JUN44 and was wounded 13JUN44....I noticed this the first time I watched the movie...13JUN the year my dad passed away. God bless them all. A great generation that asked little of their country, but gave their all.

Ah, the generation just before mine.

They were men! And women!!

They knew what needed to be done and spent their lives in doing it. No one can ask more than that.

indeed
never forget.
so many years ago
yet we still are killing each other
will we ever learn?

Much respect for those who served,,, my grandfather was in 'de Witte Brigade' a resistance group when he was young, but he got deported with his brother to work camps in the north,,, they made it back to Belgium on foot though,,, tough men in that era,,,

I'm sad to see that all those efforts and sacrifices are being cast aside by our new 'European politicians' who only have eye for economical (read: line their own pockets as much as possible) progress at all cost,,, mostly on the heads of the blue collar working class,,, and we've all voted our freedom away a long time ago,,, just look at our weapon- and self defence laws,,,

Only difference I see,,, we're not all speaking German,,,
