I also posted this in W&SS, but I guess it`s not "woodsey" enough. I recently picked up a copy of Jerry Ahern`s book " Survival! The Disaster, Crisis, and Emergency Handbook." This book is aimed more at urban survival instead of wilderness survival, but still a very interesting book. Some of the topics covered are family and community preparedness, communications, medical supplies to have on hand, food supplies, and firearms. One of my favorite chapters was on vehicle preparedness, something I feel is often overlooked. This covers spare parts, maintenance, and even bicycles as a means of "getting out." There is also a chapter on bug out bags, everyone`s favorite subject. It also covers natural disasters like tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes, as well as manmade disasters like terrorism. If you don`t already have this book, I recommend adding it to your library

Thanks for the recommendation.
I recently finished One Second After, and got my wife to read it. It's about an EMP event and what happens afterword. Good book over all. Makes you think about being prepared for things that might happen like being with out electricity for a while, which leads to food storage issues, etc.

Cheers John I'll look into that one.My current favourite urban survival book is " When all hell breaks loose" by Cody Lundin......great book and quite funny in parts !

urban survival is something I definitely could stand to learn quite a bit more about- I always feel out of my element when I'm in a city

Thanks John. It sounds very applicable to my situation.
Right now I'm reading "Patriots" by John Wesley Rawles. If you haven't read it, I recommend it.
