I have been on a personal search for a nice mid to large sized belt knife for general camping and hiking use for a long time. I think I got what I want in this knife. It is a relatively simple belt knife design but with a Bowie shaped blade and a nice comfortable and secure handle. To my eyes it doesn't appear all that "mean" and I desired that as I was not looking to make a scary blade. It certainly would work in a scary scenario but it's intended to be 99% utility and 1% fighter. The clip is not sharp so I can baton away without cutting my baton in half or confusing any law enforcement folks
I used some maroon/black G10 for the scales. The blade is 1/4in thick 5160 with a full flat grind. I also drilled out the tang with several 1/2in holes to lighten it up. The scales are contoured slightly so the palm swell sits like a ball in the palm of my hand. I find it to be a very secure grip. Overall it is 12 3/16in with 6 3/4in of that being blade(tip to handle). The blade is 1 3/4in wide. I made sure to scribe out a pattern piece for this one and hopefully will be able to get a few made up soon. I wish I was more imaginative with names as I think this knife deserves a cool title but so far I am drawing a blank. I need a trip to the woodline for inspiration
