This is what I was working on lately. I call it fighter but I don't know how good it fits the category.
The steel is 1/4" thick 5160 that I got from our fellow forumite Richard Rosvall. For the handle I used buffalo horn from Philippines. The pins and tube are brass from the local hardware store :D
I have choosen this not so usual blade shape to have a knife that can make a good slash and still be good for stabing. I won't be trying other blade like this until I get a grinder, doing concave bevels with a file is overkill.
The knife is 9" OAL with almost 5" edge.
The blade is normalized and edge quenched.
Sorry for the bad pics, it's the best my camecoder can do.

Looks pretty darn good to me! I can't believe you did that without a grinder!

i think thats a pretty spiffy blade you have there.
and i think it fits a fighter role well enough ..

my first blade had a concave grind .. and i didnt have a grinder then either .. so in thinking back .. i can sympathize.
but keep up the good work, you are doing nice work... grinder or not.

D.

Is it possible to get a look from different angles. I am not really sure what I think of this knife and I would like a better look.

Thank you for the nice words guys! :)
Keith, I will make some new pics today and post the links here.

It absolutely blows me away that you did that without a grinder. That's like a health club and a craft all in one operation. Nicely done Flava. I look forward to seeing this and others in September.

Dude!! You did that with hand files? You the man! That takes a great deal of patience and drive. What do you call it? A "Khuk-wie"? ;)

Ha ha, you just found a name for it.
Actualy I love to work with files. Takes patience but is easy to learn. What I hate most is sanding off all the marks left by the files. After sanding this one I have blisters on index fingers and thumbs. Can't even count money :D
