On one of the forums I saw a pic of a proto for the new full sized Calypso. When I do searches now, I can't seem to find it.

Does anyone have any information on specs and possible release date?

Thanks!

I wasn't aware they were doing a full size Calypso. I'm pretty sure it was a Calypso 3 you're talking about which would be about the same size as the UK Pen Knife.

The Calypso 3 may have been it. Thanks, Joe. It didn't see specs, only a pic. It got the impression (no "Jr.") that it was a release of an upgraded full-size Calypso. I'm not familiar with the size of the UK Pen Knife. I'll go check now...

I really wish they would release a full sized calypso!! I would love one in frn with ZDP steel!!

The Calypso 3 looks to be almost the perfect medium-sized EDC knife. I can't wait to handle one. This is the best new knife introduction I've seen since the Manix.

Anyone got an idea of exactly how large the cutting edge is? I've read specs that say the UKPK blade length is 3". I'm not sure is that includes the choil or not.

Hi Buzz,

The 3" is full blade length including finger choil. Cuttin edge is about 2-5/8"

Is the scale material of the caly3 revealed by spyderco?
I mean is it going to be like the G10 in the proto
or is it not revealed yet?

If memory serves me correctly, there are intended to be two Caly III models. One will be standard G-10, a la UK Penknife, while the second will be bolstered and something not yet determined.

Thanks for the clarification, Sal. A 2 5/8" cutting edge sounds okay to me. I was hoping for a full 3" cutting edge, but I think I can live with 2 5/8", as long as I get that nice choil on the blade.

Hmmmmm.... Now I may have to start weighing my options. I really like the looks of the ParaMilitary, and the size is absolutely perfect for my needs, but haven't had great experiences with the compression lock thus far.

The Caly3 is a little small in size, but has the pocket clip and locking mechanism I love. The choil shape looks awesome too.

Maybe I'll have to get both and pit them against each other. :D

Mr. Krein I will second that motion>> A full sized C-54 Calypso with ZDP-189 blade steel and a Teal colored FRN handle like the one that they did on the limited edition Dyad Jr. It and it's burgundy little brother would sure look nice in a set.
