New GB product?

Looks kick ass to me. Dang those things are SOOOO rich. Lota coin for a hatchet..but it is a GB... soo.....

if i had the coin to drop i could see getting one/using one

They look like they would be a good backpacker...Nice and small.

I don't think that's new Caleb, but I'm not in the loop either.

i figured i would have heard something if it was new but i couldnt find it on the gb site either

and yes it is pricey for a hatchet but its still around/under the price of the others they make

i think they've always been around in the Gb line also, brother.

they are great IMHO, but i have swedish blood, so i might be biassed. :D:thumbup:

you can also get a Cold Steel Rifleman's Hawk and lop the poll off and shorten and refine its haft for a similar carver/chopper at a reduced cost to you - here's one on the bottom of this image, a Gen 1 Mk V Mjolnir i made the other day as a B-Day gift, just to give you some ideas.

they are a real pleasure to use. i really like carving a fang into the beard, for splitting wood with sort of a chicken-peck motion.

the fang-beard works great when shaping spoons and bow risers and stuff, while in the field. really low energy for what you get.

these little axes fit great in the small of your back, hung diagonally over your belt too, where no one notices them - i'd hate to get one of these tossed into my teeth....

HTH.

Looks pretty handy. I know a trapper who carries a cut-down double-bit ax for building sets.

i have a rifelmans hawk and i did sharpen the beard, i am also starting to cut off the poll but it takes a lot of time to do with a file:p

i have to say tho it is one hell of a chopper/splitter for the price

oh good then, brother!

once that poll is cut away (i hope you meant hacksaw - har! ) the beast becomes poetic in your hands. - no comparison IMHO.

enjoy it.

Wetterling's small axe is a little lighter. For me, I like a longer handle, but if weight is an issue I would go with a mini GB.
