Hi All,

This is a new thread with an old topic....possible shill bidding with second chance offer. I'll post the link to this auction at the end of this post. It could be just a coincidence that the high bidder backed off, however, the second chance offer came minutes after the auction closed? This seller also sold another knife at high price and the same ebay IP was the high bidder....wonder if the next bidder in line got the second chance offer like I did minutes after the auction was over!

I also was ok with the second chance offer/price, it was what I was willing to pay for the knife....But, the knife was listed as mint condition and it is not (so it's not worth the amount paid, buyers remorse only due to the condition). Part of the gold on the etching is missing. Waiting to see what the seller has to say about this transaction.

That operation sure smells of a rackett. The gold looks to be missing on Mr. Boone's shirt. DM

That's too bad John. It sure looks fishy to me, the high bidder of both auctions being the same person and both times backing out?? I looked at the bid history on both knives and although you can't see the winning bidders real ID, the feedbacks are the same, got to be the same bidder. You would think that a seller that had a winning bidder back out after the end of the auction once, would block them from future bidding or at least remove their bids before the end of the auction.

Did you look at this info, JB?

Why does the COA card say Stonewall Jackson?

I have no clue what that knife is worth, but I know that the least little flaw is going to take a lot away from the value.

I'd say it's a toss-up and depends most upon whether you really want the knife badly.......if I wasn't dying to have it I'd back away from this sort of mixed opportunity.

The seller had both knives for sale on the bay. In the Boone auction he added the verbage stateing the one I bid on was for the D. Boone knife.

The seller made the sale right for me. Though the knife is not mint, it is still a cool LE 110 and has a place in my collection.

That is a good looking 110! You know, it wouldn't take much to convince me that the gold on Boone was deliberately set that way to represent a sunset effect.

Makes sense, since he was supposed to be going west.
