Here's some pics of my new Helle Harding with a Mora 911 for comparison.
Blade is laminated stainless. VERY sharp, and looks to be close to 1/8th in thick with a truly MIRROR polish.
Weird thing is, this knife is listed as having ROSEWOOD for each end of the handle, and that's all I ever found in my research. I got this from Ragnar, and right after he noted on his website that it seems that they had switched to Walnut (looks more like oak, to me). It's still listed as rosewood on the Helle site, so I wrote them to see whats up. I don't mind too much, but I do think rosewood would look better.

The knife is pretty great. The handle contours the hand very well. As you can see its slightly less thick than the Mora 911. The 911 seems to have much longer grip, until you compare the faces of the grips, which match very closely.
I love the 911 grip, but the Hrding holds its own.

The Harding is also quite light and well balanced.
The sheath is top notch and holds the knife really well.
I don't know why this knife is not more popular!
Its basically "semi production". The factory is in a beautiful fjord town with 500 total population. Seems like the factory must have a total of 20-30 folks working. It has a great history and tradition about it.
If you haven't seen the site, you should. It's great and gives an excellent picture of who makes the knife, the shop, and the philosophy of the company. All of which are top notch!

I bought one of the Helle Fire's and was impressed with the design as well as the quality. It is a laminated steel and arrived very sharp and holds an edge well. The Fire is a full tang knife that feels very solid in the hand.

I know it might be secondary, but I really appreciate the workmanship/thought put into the sheaths! That Fire sheath is pretty great.

What I like best about the fire sheath is the location of the retaining strap snap, it is on the back side where brush can't pop it open loosing you your knife...great idea that.

Yeah, the Speider has a similar sheath, in GREEN leather, too.
I think there is one more that uses that same design, and Ragnar comments on his site that he wishes it was used more.

That is a great looking knife. I checked out their site and I'm really tempted to pick one of these up.

The word from Helle is that they made the decision to stop using rosewood due to its endangered status. They said they have switched to "American Nut" wood, which Ragnar believes is English Walnut.
