Hi folks,
I've enjoyed this forum off & on for some time, but didn't have much of a reason to join and post until now.
There is a faint memory as a youngster regarding my mom while she was growing up in Ebensburg, PA, she told me she'd learned to throw a tomahawk.
My mom's family lived right across from the LaGanas on Tanner street.
I remember visiting with Pete a few times in the '80's when our families got together, and being fascinated with his ability to throw and stick just about anything that had a point, and even some things that didn't. He always had arms wide open for our family.
It wasn't until my mother died suddenly just this August that I thought of Pete again because I found she had carefully put away a booklet titled "The Art of Knife and Tomahawk Throwing" by Pete, with a dedication to her penned inside the front cover.
Holy smokes, thanks to Google.com I learned more about Pete than I probably would ever have, I had no idea about his contributions, especially in regards to his tomhawk design and wartime application in the '60's and '70's.
I am no stranger to such stuff, maybe it was in the Ebensburg air. 31 years with Japanese jujutsu, 25 with Iaido and cutting. My favorite knife is and always will be my ol' Cold Steel Recon Tanto, the first issue everyone wonders about. Beretta Brigadier Inox .40 is always helpful.
Hoping to hear more from anyone about Pete,
Devon
