I had this folder at the Plaza show, but the frame wasn't polished. Brought it home and rubbed on it for a day to make it shine.

It is the HB model, and is just over 5" closed with a 4 3/4" blade of CPM154 with 1500 grit finish. the frame is 416 ss with four gold lip pearl inlays. It's a self lock of course.

I really enjoyed making this one. Could be a sighn of things to come......;)

never did set the date on my camera, so don't pay attention to the date in the pictures. I shot these yesterday

That is just gorgoues! I love the flowing contours of the handle.

It seems to me that the entire blade would fit neatly into the back 3/4 of the handle- and that the plain stainless part of the handle (forward of the carved notch) could be omitted entirely or dramatically shortened. Your listed proportions suggest otherwise, and I recognize that the pictures are shot at a fairly steep angle (so it's hard to really see the proportions), but still. It looks like the cutting part of the blade would end up way out in front of your hand while cutting (if the heel of your hand sits where it looks like it should).

I'm sure I'm not getting it somehow. Maybe a close shot of the blade and a picture of the open knife in hand would help.

Mike - look at the first image 1 of 3 alone - there's no way that blade fits into the back 3/4 of the handle. In images 2 and 3, the handle is oriented closer to the camera and thus looks quite a bit larger than the blade.

Photos alone can't tell you the proportions - they have to viewed with the stated dimensions in mind.

I hope I'm not wrong, but I think the self-lock accounts for some of what you're seeing in regards to the blade/handle. I had one of Bailey's early self-locks and I seem to recall that being the case.

Very nice looking knife. I really like it.

The handle has a kind of organic look. It looks natural like it grew and not man made.

Could you send it around like one of those pass around knives? I'd love to get to handle it and see how it feels in the hand.

I see what you are saying in terms of proportions. But looking at that top picture- is the palm swell in the grip 2/3 of the way towards the rear of the knife, which would put something like 2" of handle between your hand and the base of the blade? I am used to seeing a palm swell in the middle of the handle or even slightly toward the front.

It is an incredibly beautiful design, don't get me wrong. I would love love love to have that in my pocket! I am just trying to see how it would look in hand. I'm sure I'm not seeing something here and I'm trying to get it.

I also can not believe that you came home with out selling that beauty!!!

Bailey, great looking knife. How was the show for you? I think most makers had a good show despite the economy.
