Darrel was kind enough to send me these pics taken by Atlanta Virtual for his new website to use until I get a chance to take some of my own. The details are:

Blade: 4 3/4" D-2M - dual-finish on flats & grinds - ground as close to perfect as I've seen - very, very sharp & that point is wicked.

Ti bolsters & liners anodized to match scales - has Darrel's D/A Illusion release - liner fully file-worked - liner-lock has smooth & secure lock-up with absolutely no worry over failure - release is firm but not difficult. Action is as smooth as any folder I own or have handled - Darrel has just the right amount of tension on the auto action - can't adequately describe it, has to be felt. Manual opening is like glass - no binding or resistance throughout motion with solid lock-up that is reassuring. The blade is very secure in the handle in the closed position until opening - every time I open it it send chills down my spine.

The scales are Juniper Burl( eat your heart out, Neil!) and I think make the knife(I am prejudiced since I picked the scales out & sent them to Darrel). The Juniper is gorgeous & adds a refined elegance to the knife that I was looking for. I did not want anything overly flashy or overdone & Darrel achieved everything I wanted in the knife and then some. The fit & finish on this knife are impeccable and has to be seen up close to fully appreciate just how outstanding it is. Darrel has continued to amaze me with the level of his work - every time I think it can't get any better he proves me wrong!

Darrel, all I can say at this point is: THANK YOU!
The only thing better than having your knives is working with you & having you as a friend.

Wow, that is some knife. Congratulations on you new toy. Post more pics when you get a chance. Thanks

Super classy, and classical while remaining off the beaten path. Great choices and execution, Bill and Darrel.

Enjoy!

Bill,

That's a NICE one!! The wood looks familiar too ;) I think Darrel has the folder thing DOWN :)

Neil

Awesome knife Bill! This is the first stiletto of his I've seen with wood scales. Has a nice organic warmth to it

I appreciate the nice comments & I know Darrel does too! I had a dream or vision of what I wanted in the Stilletto & Darrel was able to take my attempts to pass that on & fulfill that far better than I could have hoped. This is one knife that will NEVER LEAVE.

Neil, you may get your wish sooner than you think - I'm planning to be in your neighborhood from Oct. 1 to Oct. 12 if all goes as planned.

Thanks everybody!
Bill

Penguin,

Beautiful piece. Or as we say here in Tx. "Neater than a skeeter's tweeter. :D

I need to add a smilie for drooling - this is the finest looking stilleto I've ever seen IMO.

and maybe add a special DDR drooling smilie...

I agree fellas. I think DDR is short for "Drool Doctor".

:D <------- The green comes from envy, I'm pretty sure.

That is one hellacious knife! I can't hardly believe it. Never seen a stilleto that really appealed to me. This one is fantastic.

I have to agree with you about your choice of the scales. They are plain beautiful, and give the entire knife a real touch of class. Good thinking!

I think more than any folder I've seen, I would love to see it deployed on some would-be BG. If the lighting were adequate, I think if you pulled that and used the auto button, that many would-be BGs would be in serious need of laundry and cleanup! There is just no doubt about that knife's ability to kill. WOW!

Thanks Again!! Amen to everything said above - what really amazes me is how freaking incredible the knife feels in the hand - it wants to be used sooo bad! The wood scales really do give it a different aura than other knives. Makes me think just how easily it would slide in between a person's ribs! :D :D :D Uh Oh! Time for the meds!

Very shortly it will be on its way to Chuck Karwin for an article in Tactical Knives - for some reason they wanted to do an article on it! Gonna be tough without it for a while but I'll survive somehow. Will have some additional pics up tomorrow.

Have a nice day!
