it's 440 stainless but took a nice edge... it is just as heavy as the hawk and i think i'm going to like it... i'll give it a review on my next meanger outside...

Nifty little axe. I've always had a thing for double-bit axes. I think it stems from reading about Tolkien's dwarves when I was growing up.

well it is now better than it was.... took the axe to my buddies place.. he calls me the fire god, he had told me he had some wood 4 a fire... so i brought my new little chopper for a test run....

the guy has 2 12' 2x6's nailed together with about 15 10 penny nails... he didnt have a hammer... so i went to work with the axe and a wedge... use my pliers to finish pulling the nails... as i was working i saw the wedge starting to slip out of the head, and the head started working loose....

i still was able to do some light chopping and the little sucker likes to eat some wood... i cant wait till i can really swing it...

as soon as i got home i pulled the "wedge" that came in it... a smooth stainless metal wedge...

i re-wedged with wood and an a real axe wedge.. that little axe is snug now... cant wait to do some damage with it... grins i get more pics then....

careful, brother.

that's a kindling hatchet at most, unless you really reinforce the neck.

i hear u vec... it will prob be wearing one of your handles before long... ill have to send it to you as the eye is a little odd...

i'll never forsake my hawks.... been using them too long

it looks just like the Marbles version - does it have an eye that looks like three overlapping drilll bits went through it?

I didn't think the Marbles were 440 series stainless. I had heard they were carbon steel. Did I hear wrong? [Just curious.]

that would be the one.... are u set up for that type of eye?

yeah, unlike wood, we get to cheat with that kind of eye, with fiber-aligned composites - if anything, that compound shape will make it even better, strength-wise, with composites, while it is a potential detriment with wood.

we shall see.

i guess that is from the same outfit as made the Marbles, which might be discontinued now. - i don't think it was 440 though, it was a high carbon, as brother dances' suggested here.

good heads-up, brother DWK.

it is not a marbles... one side says 440 stainless, the other says made in china... i just said it has the same eye as the marbles.... more than likely a knock off.... but, it was a gift and i shall enjoy the little beater axe... but it still might be worthy of brother vec's magic....
