My new Para should arrive today. I can't wait. I read over and over here how much people love their Para's so I had to get one.
Are they hard to take apart? Is there a tutorial on adjusting the pivot? I am afraid it will have vertical play.
Do the new ones say ParaMilitary on the blade? Thanks

It shouldn't say paramilitary on the blade.

The fit and finish is bothersome, and vertical play is almost universal, but the para is still very tough and overall a great knife.

You should consider ordering from NGK, they can your knives out for you.

Congrats on the Para Redhawk, you won't be disappointed! I can't help you with taking one apart, but I don't think it's that hard, a #10 torx screw is required I believe. Mine does have some vertical play(very very little), but I have faith in the lock-up. Can't wait to hear from you when you get it, it's my one of my faves:D

Just got Para about a month ago and perhaps I got lucky, but it is perfect in everyway. Solid lock, smooth action, smooth lock operation, closes tight, rounded tang. No complaints at all!

The most surprising feature is the weight. It looks like it's a heavy knife, but it's not.

Don't worry, you'll love it. :)

Mine has no vertical, SLIGHT horizontal play and a little rough when the blade is with in the last degrees of rotation, but over all really nice

Thanks guys you are a great bunch.
I rushed home and the Para was there! Thanks NGK lightning fast delivery as usual.
I see now why everyone loves this knife. It fits my hand like it was made for it. NO VERTICAL PLAY either! It is just what I was looking for in a EDC except for the high ride clip.
I have learned to listen to you guys. When you say a knife is great you know what you are talking about. Thanks:D

Mine was very loose and had terrible play, so I sernt it in, and it came back with moderate play. :(

J85909266,
If it were me, I would most likely send it in again. Wa it new when you got it? The wait is very hard though.

Ron

Yes, it was new. Also, now that it's back, the liner barely engages with the tang. It seems iffy to me. I may send it in again. I really can't handle so much play on such a pricey knife.

I was on pins and needles for 3 days fearing mine would have vertical play but I lucked out. It is a great knife except for the "knife here" clip set up. I look forward to the Caly 3 with its low ride wire clip.

Does anyone ask the dealers to only send a knife with zero blade play? I have done this before and they all agree to take the time to find one. That seems to work!

As far as the Para's high ride clip, I guess if you're a soldier, quick access is more important than concealment.

I had good luck with my para also. It was very tight at first and took some time to weak in the contact points of the compression lock, now it works beautifully. No blade play.

To take knife apart, you must have two Torx drivers. Mount one in a vice for the bottom screw and drive the other on top. Easy! The lanyard tobe is fixed so just open the two halves of the handles like a scissor .

Yes I did Tah. NGK did a good job. The F&F on this Para are perfect.

I never quick draw my knife. I value my hide too much so a low ride carry is fine with me.

I have learned to close my Para one handed. I just push the lock bar with my index finger then push the back of the blade against my leg.

It really is a great cutter. It just slices right through about anything. I held a magazine by the spine and cut through it at 45 degrees. My friend could not believe its cutting power. He carries Pakistan specials. I think I converted him when he saw me slice through the magazine.

I intend to casually and slowly let a sheeple see it to see if it is sheeple friendly. It rides so high I have to wear it under a shirt that is untucked or very loosely tucked in.
