Strolled into the Sporting Goods department at Wally World today, and the guy behind the counter that I grew up with, grinned and said he had some new ones for me.

A nice bone combo 373 and 379, that they had just got off the truck this morning, along with several new knives from some other companies.

They come both in the same box, with each knife having it's own plastic sleeve.

Really great looking, and fit on both is flawless.

I could have swore I have seen the same models USA and some imports I only buy the US. I hope they don't come harder and harder to find.

Bear Claw,

Could you comment on the backspring tension?
I know Buck non locking folders are not known for having a lot of blade " spring tension"
I picked up an imported 371 , at Wally World, a while back.
The knife is super sharp and F&F is very good, but I found the main blade spring tension, a bit weak
The other two blades are OK

Strong on all blades. I tend to check that first on all Buck stockman patterns with the "each blade has it's own spring" layout. I've noticed some, import and domestic that feel weaker than the old style ones, but these are good, solid "snap" when closing.

Thanks, good to kmow

PS, just for folks that keep track of this stuff, here's what the box has for model/catalog info'.

If anyone from Buck see this, do these bone scales have an official "name"?

Bear Claw great looking knives, thanks for sharing.
I do not know what the difference is with Wal-Mart around these parts but they have the clam pack 110, 119 and a 301 version imported wood handled slip joint but never seem to have the knives I see on this forum. I have asked for the Odyssey and the sales people all say what they have is all the BUCKs that WM carries.

I picked up a combo pack last night at WM. Both blades are razor sharp out of the clampack, springs are good. The bone scales are not as bright as the display models, but I like these. Didn't like that they are 420J2, would like to see Buck's 420HC. Is the 420J2 heat treated by Buck? I expect these to make their way into others hands as gifts.

Hi BCCL,

Stopped at my local Wally and they had your picked bone set. $19.98 and they were in the clam pack, no more display case. Also, you did not say this set has Brass bolsters. The Xmas set from last year also had brass bolsters. This set has much better fit & finish than the Xmas set of 2010!

Had to go to four different stores yesyerday, but finally found a set. Pretty nice knives for under $20!
