Hey folks
I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how to get started in knife throwing?
-are there any good resources to check-out?
-I see so many things labeled as a throwing knife...what makes a good throwing knife?
-can anyone recomend a good entry-level knife(s)?

Thanks

I am no pro, but this knife (http://www.knifezone.ca/coldsteel/TRUEFLIG.htm) has served me well. It is very rugged and durable.

As for starting, I'd say get a knife and an old stump or dead tree and have at it. Practice from a set distance, throwing the way that is most comfortable to you, and keep throwing that exact way until you are getting the knife to stick.

Just be very aware of the knife bouncing back at you, or a family member as that can happen very often.

After that I'd say pick up a few books, or read about it online.

I hope that is somewhat useful. ;-)

There are a couple of throwing groups in PA... email me if you can't dig them up yourself. They do conventional spinning throws.

I'm in Philly, but I'm really just learning myself... I could get you started on some basics. Feel free to email me.

A good throwing knife is one that is 3/16" thick or more, and has no (or very little) holes or moving parts. Bobby Branton hosts this sub-forum, and he has some excellent knives. Cold Steel knives are good and cheap.

Read through the threads on this forum, there are plenty of links and resources.
